Malaga has been long seen as an airport town for those visiting the Costa Del Sol, however those who stop to explore are rewarded with what can be described as Spain’s most underrated cities. The historic centre includes many highlight such as the medieval cathedral, Roman amphitheatre and Alcazar built in a similar style to the more famous Alhambra Palace in Granada. Away from this the costal part of the city has a more modern feel with fashionable bars and shops surrounding a harbour full of super yachts. Not forgetting the fact that the city contains some of the most accessible and scenic city beaches in Europe

Magical Malaga, the beauty of Spain 🇪🇸

Malaga, Andalusia Spain. As a child I came here so many times with my parents and this city has always felt very special to me, it’s such a beautiful part of Spain and perfect for a weekend away. The city centers on beautiful shopping streets lined with marble where little alley ways take you away to cafes, markets and churches. The cathedral is an imposing feature that towers above the smaller side streets around it, you can go in to take in the sheer scale of the building. The central market is a buzz of activity with all the fresh produce you could need, the streets surrounding it are a network of cafes, restaurants and patisseries. The main shopping street contains all the big western brands you could need, as well as local craft shops and souvenir stands. There are also lots of malls and a big El Corte Ingles within a 15 minute walk of the city center if you’re after more shopping. The city has two main stations, one for high speed rail across Spain and one for the commuter rail towards Torremolinos. Malaga you won my heart

Malaga ; it was such a great place overall. The architecture, foods, people, weather and what else could you ask for? I went there with hijab on, I feel safe and comfortable. There’s so many things to do, you can enjoy the sunset, go to beach, kayaking, museums trip and so on. It was also a budget friendly and accept card, best place to visit!

Surprise stopover

Had an off day from touring and spent a night in Malaga. Was a last minute plan so it was a pleasant surprise. Amazing scenery, fantastic beaches, a castle to climb, and a cute Frenchie being his own boss. Food was affordable even around the city centre. A nice shopping stretch near the castle. There was a crowd waiting for some celebrity at the hotel nearby too, dunno who though. And the sun was beautiful.

Volcanic Rock Island, Lanzarote

Location: Lanzarote is situated off of mainland Africa and is part of the Spanish Canary Islands, not named from the bird, but from the Latin word for dogs. Due to it's geographical location, the island receives beautiful sunny days with gusts of wind to cool you down. Things to do: whilst lounging by the pool may be on your to do list on such a sunny island, there are also many activities you can do outside of your hotel, like hiking mountains and volcanoes, scuba diving in the shallow waters off the beach, snorkelling, boat rides and experiencing local culture such as dancing. Marvelously Magnificent Malaga

Getting There - 9/10- It's really easy to get here from most places in Spain and Europe since flight's are always cheap and if you look enough you can get yourself an absolute bargain. Attractions - 8/10- I think there's a lot you can do here with regarding looking through all the tight old streets or go for hike up to the of Malaga where you can get a view of the whole city which is must as it's really beautiful or if not also an amazing place where you can relax since there's lots of nice beaches to explore. Hotels - 7/10- There's a lot decent hotels that are in the area and lots to choose from whether you want to be in the actual city itself or you want a beach view or even overlook the whole city there is lots for you to choose from so you won't have to worry about finding a good place to sleep. Food & Restaurants - 8/10- There is lots on offer when it comes to amount of places you can go to each, since there's lots of seafood that's on offer since of it's location and a great place to go to would be the fish market as you get a fresh bite to eat and it's tastes really good too. One of the favorites that people need to try is a paella since it's bursting with flavor and that with also being so fresh is a winner for me. If not you can always always get something else since there's a variety of flavors to try so if you don't like seafood then that's not a problem too. Shopping - 7/10- The shopping here is great since when you go into the center of Malaga you will find tons of different shops that will meet your needs. There is also market too which allows for people to get great deals on handmade items too. Balcón de Europa

Nerja is a very beautiful town where the colours will change. The sea is not blue is turquoise, the light is so bright and the energy that you feel is so pure that you may want to spend extra time exploring this area. Nerja is not only beautiful for this view. Your really need to go and explore it because anything that I will describe it was get even close. Its narrow streets are very beautiful, they are decorated with flowers and you can walk along them smelling the flowers and at different times coffee, bakery and even super nice food for the restaurants. If you are not a fan of the Spanish cuisine you will also get to experience a very French Brasserie and an Italian Restaurant. Ancient Roman Theatre in Malaga

I was really surprised when I found out that there is an ancient Roman theatre in Malaga. The theatre is located on the Alcazaba Hill so if you are planning to visit the Alcazaba, you will definitely see the theatre too:) The theatre was discovered in 1951 and consists of 3 parts: the stands, the orchestra pit and the stage. Entrance is free and it’s open everyday except on Monday! The best view of the theatre is not on the stands or in the theatre but rather standing directly opposite of the theatre and having a full view of it, makes for great pictures too:) #fallingforfall #tripblazers #urbanexplorer

Malaga Cathedral

Paid a visit to the Malaga Cathedral which was built between 1528 and 1782. The architecture was stunning and I was in awe of the details at each and every corner of the cathedral. Entry is about 6€, and they have student prices, youth prices, senior prices and adult prices so do remember to bring your student card if you have:) I paid 9€ to climb to the roof of the cathedral. Please note that you can only do that with a guided tour which happens every hour. It’s about a 200-steps climb to the roof of the Cathedral but the steps and stairways are quite narrow hence I won’t recommend for those with any injuries or weak legs. Even if you don’t climb up to the roof, you can still admire the church for its beauty, size and architecture. #fallingforfall #tripblazers #urbanexplorer

Picasso museum in Malaga

Before visiting Malaga, I never knew that Picasso was born here! For art-lovers or even fans of Picasso or for those that just happen to be in Malag, do take some time to visit his museum which showcases quite a number of his artworks. The museum is located within the city centre and consists of 2 levels. Personally, I really like the architecture of the museum and how zen it makes me feel upon stepping through the doors. For tourists, do take note that big bags (for example: tote bags) and liquids like water are not allowed. Tickets can be bought online which may be useful as you can avoid the long queues upon reaching! There’s also a souvenir shop which sells mugs, tote bags, post cards and other merchandise which you can bring home as a memorabilia after your visit. #fallingforfall #tripblazers #urbanexplorer

Beautiful view from Alcazaba

Alcazaba is located in the city centre, behind the ancient Roman theatre. It is also conveniently located near the University of Malaga. It can be quite a climb for elderly but it definitely has a wonderful view of the city and very suitable for families. My friends and I enjoyed the old architecture, fresh air and beautiful view of Malaga, including the port:) There’s also an area within the attraction that showcases artefacts and the history of the place. Entry is free on Sunday AFTER 2pm so I would recommend to go then! I recommend you to go more in autumn or spring because for sure the wheater will be better. Amazing food, amazing people, good sunsets! Prices are good. Recommend to confirm availability with the turist points because I founded all of them closed. Enjoy!

Bar Mercado Atarazanas

Bar Mercado Atarazanas is located inside the market at Calle Atarazanas, 29005, around 1.2 kilometers 15 minutes walk away from the train station, operating from Monday to Saturday at 0900-1500 hrs. Bar Mercado Atarazanas was the original market bar here and, what started as one small stall years ago, has been expanded with additional stalls in front, as well as a few tables outside. They serve very cold beer, wine, fresh seafood from the fish stall, grilled meat and my favorite paella at an affordable price. There is nothing fresher than eating in the market, so they do one of the best brochettes in Malaga.

Central Market

The Mercado Central de Atarazanas is one of the buildings which best represent the architecture of the nineteenth century in Malaga, located at 10 Calle Atarazanas, 29005, around 1.2 kilometers 15 minutes walk from the train station. In its stalls, all of them are arranged by type of product, you can find everything from meats, fish and vegetables. It is also a very typical place to eat, as some fish stalls have tables where they cook fresh products for their customers. It is one of the most important shopping centres in the city, where everyday the people of Malaga come to buy fresh produce, visitors come for the fresh seafood, or just to stroll through this building.

Barcelo Malaga has established itself as one of the best and modern business hotels located beside Malaga Maria Zambrano train station. A 21 square meters air conditioner twin room with free WIFI access, electronic safe box, bathroom shampoo and body gel, cable TV and ..... Nice front desk staff, fast check in, will provide a town map and tell you the walking way. Swimming Pool located on the 8th floor of the hotel and with stunning views of the Malaga skyline. A nice and well equipped fitness room. The hotel had direct access to the AVE high dpeed train and beside a shopping complex, autobus station are also not far away. It also offers good links to the airport and is just a short walk from the city's main attractions.

The little nugget of Nerja!

I absolutely love this place! Both with character and tourism this place is a short drive from Malaga which is great for us! THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING! We managed to find a cute place to have lunch and I even remember a small memory of the train so many years later, almost like de javú it was crazy! It is worth mentioning the main vista is very crowded during busy tourist days like the weekend so if possible it is best to try to visit during the week and mainly morning before the crowd will arrive! Teatro Romano is the oldest monument in Málaga City; it is situated in the cultural heart of Málaga city, at the foot of the famous Alcazaba fortress. It is one of the only Ancient ruins left in Málaga after the outwardly Republican city was bombed by Nationalist sympathizers - the Italian army during the Civil war, and one of the only remaining Roman ruins in Andalucía after centuries of warfare, and construction. The site is accompanied by the Centro de Interpretación (visitors centre) which teaches visitors about the history of the ruins and its subsequent excavation. Admission is free (but not advertised on outside as free). There is no disabled access to the site. Do wear comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of walking. Getting There - There is a lot of buses and many train and subway stops nearby. Address - Ermita de lá Virgem de lá Pena Highlights - this church is literally built inside of a big boulder and is next to a Mirador which has the best views of sea and looking towards the Costa del Sol Rating - 4.5/5 2. Address - Plaza or Mirador around the Oficina de Turismo Highlights - this is a donkey for photos as the town is all about donkeys and near it is actually a donkey stable and has views of Mijas on the mirador Rating - 4/5 3. Address - Miradors near the Happiness Lab Cafe Highlights - there are some more miradors with amazing views near that gelato place and the gelatos are some of the best I've had in the Andalusia region. Malaga beach in spring, the dawn sky was so beautiful

#SpringTravel #SpringOuting 📍 P.º Marítimo Pablo Ruiz Picasso, 29016 Málaga, Spain 2 weeks in Spain in May, a life-changing trip 5 days of which were spent in the southernmost part of the country, Malaga/Nerja, which took 4-5 hours by night bus! Arrive at the bus stop on Sunday morning and go back to Nerja. The dawn sky and the beach of Malaga were so beautiful ♥︎ The view was perfect thanks to the clear spring weather!

Waiting for the flight in the lounge

Sala VIP T3 is the lounge available to access with most lounge cards in the international (non low cost) terminal at Malaga Costa del Sol Airport. The lounge is open daily from 06:00 am until 23:00 pm and is accessible 4 hours prior the scheduled flight. The lounge itself does not offer big surprises. The food selection is quite limited, especially during the morning hours until about 11 am (breakfast time). The area is big so even when quite crowded, the lounge doesn’t feel so full. But the queues to access food and drinks can be quite long as they are packed to quite small area. However I like to stay in the lounge because it gives a solo traveler more safety to leave the bags and grab the food and drinks. As the staff announces all the boarding events it’s also hard to miss the flight if you keep your ears open. The lounge is located just above the security check and duty free shop. After the security check you have the mandatory visit to duty free shop (annoying but more and more common). Then just use one of the available ways to access the second floor (for example go towards Burger King). Spanish candied almonds

Caramelized / candied Almonds (Garrapiñadas) are a popular local specialty that is available in Andalusia in Spain. Actually basically same way of preparing almonds can be found from some other countries in Europe (Switzerland, Germany, Nordic Counties) but to me it only feels local food in Spain and especially in Costa del Sol. There are stalls everywhere from where you can buy thse delicacies and the price is usually only a few euros per packet. Sometimes they also sell sunflower seeds or peanuts that have been made in the same way. For me, I sometimes want them so much that I end up buying a box from a stall (mainly for tourists) I just love them. So if you’re traveling in Spain just try them.
