My visit to Megane Bridge in Nagasaki was so cool! The bridge, built over 400 years ago, is shaped like a pair of glasses when you see its reflection in the water. That’s how it got its fun nickname, “Spectacles Bridge”! I loved the beautiful, curved stone design and how strong and well-built it looked even after so many centuries. Walking across the bridge felt like stepping into history, imagining the people who crossed it long ago. It was so fun to snap pictures and try to capture the perfect “glasses” reflection. On a whim, I came up with a one-day trip to Nagasaki. I started from Saga and walked the whole way after arriving in Nagasaki. Because I saw the Atomic Bomb Museum in Hiroshima, I didn’t take the time to see it in Nagasaki. 🚞Transportation: 4,100 yen one way 1⃣️ Go to: (section) Saga-Takeo; (Shinkansen) Takeo-Nagasaki 2⃣️Reply: (Shinkansen) Nagasaki-Takeo; (Intersection) Takeo-Saga 🚶🏽‍♀️ Route 1⃣️ おFood Office Jiumeien (This building is the thinnest!) Looking around, I saw that the kindergarteners were on a field trip to visit MeganeBridge. The teacher said, "Come on, everyone, watch your step and let's go find the ♡stone." I heard him clearly... Okay! There was no way to find the ♡stone other than to follow behind. I was embarrassed, but I followed the kindergarteners and finally reached the ♡stone. "Thank you, kindergarteners. Thank you, teacher." I waited my turn while muttering to myself... It seemed like everyone had big dreams, so it took a while for my turn to come. I waited at a distance, and finally it was my turn! . Apparently there were a few ♡stones, but the ♡stone was in a low place where the little kindergarteners could see it. Looking back, I wondered what they'd placed there, when I noticed a cute toy, resting on some coins in a gap between the stones below. Smiling to myself, I made a wish to match them. I heard that this ♡ stone was embedded in the stone walls when Meganebashi and other bridges were restored after many bridges, including Meganebashi, were washed away during the Nagasaki flood, but I haven't looked into it clearly so I don't know the details, but there are a lot of couples who go there! I walked from the Shianbashi tram stop along the route, and in addition to Meganebashi, there were many other stone bridges, and all the bridges were beautiful, the weather was fine, and the autumn breeze was pleasant, so it was fun. The blue sky and white clouds reflected on the surface of the river were very beautiful.

The Oura Church in Nagasaki City is one of the 12 sites related to the history of Christianity in Japan. The group of churches and Christian sites were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2018. This particular church is located in the southern part of Nagasaki City, while some of the other in the list are located in other parts of the Nagasaki Prefecture. To get to the Oura Church, it is possible to walk 15-20 min from city center. The area is in fact part of the Foreign Settlement area of Nagasaki in the 19th century. Therefore you can also visit Glover Garden and Chinese Confucius Shrine nearby. The Church was built by French missionaries in 1864 and is the oldest church in Japan. It was also designated as a National treasure in 1933 by the Japanese Government. Entrance fee is ¥1000 for adult and 400 for high school students which I thought was a little expensive. Mount Inasa indeed captures the best view of Nagasaki City from above. It is just a short 10 minutes drive up the curvy road in the western part of the city. There are several ways to reach the observatory, including ropeway (1250 yen round trip), bus and of course by car . If you drive, parking spaces are available at the summit. Once at the top, go up to the rooftop of the observatory building for a 360 degrees view. The west side faces the ocean and is absolutely stunning at sunset. The other side overlooks Nagasaki City on the two sides of the Uragami River. The observatory building also has a couple of fast food restaurants for light snacks and drinks. This is a very new hotel in Nagasaki and just across the street from Chinatown and the main shopping area. The location is excellent and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room is small but sufficient for a Queen size bed. I love the long sofa by the window which is great for sitting and putting out the luggages. the SkySpa is on the top floor- 12th floor. It is free for hotel guests to use. The hotel has two affiliated parking- both are literally just next to the hotel. One cost 1200 yen from 12-12. Park the car first and get the 1200yen ticket from the reception desk . Then pay directly at the parking lot. Glover Garden was built for Scottish merchant Thomas Glover, who lived and helped in the industrialization of Japan in the late 19th century. In Nagasaki city centre, there is a well known bridge called Meganebashi, or Spectacles Bridge built over Nakashima River. The bridge is named this way, because it has two arches under it, and the reflections of both arches in the water make it appear to have a pair of round framed spectacles. Along the canal, there are also lush trees that also change colour with the seasons, and you may spot a tree or two either in yellow, orange or red during the autumn season. Occasionally, there may be passers-by that walk along the stone pathway created in the waterway for a stroll, and to get closer to the “pair of spectacles”. As many of us will know, Hiroshima and Nagasaki had been bombed when an atomic bomb was dropped onto each city during World War II, leading to devastating consequences. In memory of this historic event and the lives lost, Nagasaki Peace Park was built. This is also a must go place for locals, especially for students, as evident from the many school trips that are organised to this place. For tour groups who visit Nagasaki, this will also be one of the places of attraction to visit. There is a museum that depict the timeline of events in World War II and the dropping of the atomic bomb which ended the war. There is also a life size model of how the atomic bomb looks like on the inside, and the actual size of the bombs. For the outdoor park, there is the Peace Statue representing the hope for peace, and other monuments and memorials are also set up in memory of the victims who suffered and died from the bombing. With thousands of lights from buildings and boats shimmering below, you’ll see why Mt. Inasa is said to possess a ‘10 million dollar view’. We were a bit sceptical of its claims as one of the 3 great nightime city views but it is amazing. Sunset is best time but there are long queues then, so allow extra time if you want to capture the sun setting. Entrance is free at the observatory. Plenty of people at night but the platform is quite spacious. Highly recommend if your in Nagasaki. You don't realise how big Nagasaki is until you come up here. #givethanks #givethanks

Nagasaki Peace Park is a park located in Nagasaki, Japan, commemorating the atomic bombing of the city during World War II. This is a nice park area that was quiet when I was there and I felt more like I was there than in Hiroshima. It is important to get the feel there imagining the sorrow, pain, ... the bomb caused. It is vital to realize the ground level elevation and its reason.
