A UNESCO World Heritage site, Oshino-Hakkai is a beautiful village with many clear fish ponds with water from Mount Fuji’s melting snow. Well worth a visit as it’s really peaceful and quaint. It’s a lovely little village of very special deep ponds of snowmelt. The water was tranquil with beautiful fish swimming in it. We went there on a clear sunny day and we had the great view of Mt Fuji too. It’s a very popular tourist spot with plenty of local souvenirs and snacks, including roadside grilled fish. Parking area is a short level walk outside of the village centre. Outdoor areas are dog friendly. There’re some vendors selling freshly dried strawberries and peaches are also lovely. As all the ponds are outdoors, so check the weather before paying a visit. My partner and I really enjoyed our time there.
