Xi'an Travel | A Tibetan Buddhist Temple Worth Visiting for Free
Guangren Temple, also known as Lama Temple, is located at the foot of the ancient city wall of Xi'an and is the only Gelug sect temple in Shaanxi. The temple is the unique Green Tara Mandala in the country, and Princess Wencheng is also revered as the incarnation of Green Tara.
Architectural Style: The temple features a 'one entrance, three courtyards' layout, and houses one of the only two life-sized statues of the Buddha at age twelve in the world, as well as the largest Thousand-Hand Guanyin in Shaanxi Province. The architectural style is unique and rich in Tibetan characteristics.
Temple Activities: At the temple entrance, volunteers distribute free bracelets and wet wipes. To the left of the entrance, visitors can get free incense, use a machine to automatically receive a Yellow Wealth God card, and write blessing cards.
Special Features: The main hall of Guangren Temple enshrines Green Tara, who is an incarnation of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, depicted as a young girl with one face and two arms; the temple also has the 'Eight Treasures of Guangren Temple,' which include the Kangxi Emperor's stele for Guangren Temple, the life-sized statue of the Buddha at age twelve on a Tang and Han Dynasty white jade lotus throne, the original Kangxi Emperor's stele inscription, the Ming Dynasty version of the 'Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra,' a Han white jade lotus jar, a Qing Dynasty nanmu dragon lamp, a Qing Dynasty sandalwood altar, and an eternal lamp.
🌟Check-in Strategy
Photo Check-in: The red walls around the temple, the 'Fu' character door, the corner, and the 'As You Wish' check-in wall directly opposite the main gate are all excellent photo spots.
Temple Blessing: At the very back is a full wall of blessing cards, where you can tie your written blessing cards.
Local Cuisine: Near Guangren Temple, Sajinqiao Hui People's Square (note, not the Hui Street, but the Hui residential area) is a favorite food destination for locals, with a variety of eateries from the outside in, including Ma Er Sour Soup Dumplings, Liu Xin Stir-fried Pao Mo, Li Weiyi Meatball Hulatang, Zhi Liang Steamed Dumplings, Ma'erli Meatball Hulatang, Ma Lei Stir-fry, and more.
In summary, Guangren Temple is a travel destination full of historical and cultural heritage and religious atmosphere. Whether you are visiting for sightseeing or for blessings and prayers, you can find your own joy and gain something here.

Off-peak travel is not particularly crowded~A day trip to many photo check-in spots is suitable for special forces babies who are on a short trip to take photos📷!!
📍p2-3 Navigation to Erhui Lane Hot Pot near the Bell Tower
📍p4 Navigation to Ladoula Hot Pot near the Bell Tower (It's more atmospheric to take pictures when the lights are on in the evening🥳)
These two hot pots are super close and can be checked in together

Bring a red scarf to take pictures with the red wall, it's super matchy~Hanfu sisters can also come to the red wall to take pictures! It's much better than the Qinglong Temple where I went to wear Hanfu the next day (I personally think🫣🫣) The leaves of the ginkgo tree are still yellow!
📍p9-10 The outer city wall of Guangren Temple hh The city wall here is free to go up! It feels no less than the city wall on the side of Yongning Gate (I heard that because of the Spring Festival Gala, it's all fenced up, sisters who want to check in can also come here to take pictures!)
📍p11-15 Defu Lane! (Also near the Bell Tower) 9️⃣ The New Year atmosphere of this alley is very strong, and the decoration at the entrance of each store is super atmospheric
📍p16-17 Bell Tower Night View Superb photo spot at the entrance of Kaiyuan Mall

🌟You can turn on the flash📸 The passing vehicles will be blurred a bit

The only Tibetan Buddhist temple in Shaanxi region
"Guangren Temple" is a Tibetan Buddhist temple in Xi'an, located near the northwest corner of the ancient city wall of Anyuan Gate. It is the only Gelug sect temple in Shaanxi region, which was specially funded and built by Emperor Kangxi during his inspection of Shaanxi. In Xi'an, famous attractions like the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, of course, overshadow small attractions like Guangren Temple. There are obviously not many tourists here, but it is very worth seeing. I came to the ancient city wall of Anyuan Gate this morning and happened to pass by and see this temple under the corner of the city.

Guangren Temple in Xi'an, Shaanxi
Guangren Temple is the only main venue for Green Tara in China, and also the only Tibetan Gelug temple in Shaanxi. It was built in the 44th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1705) when Emperor Kangxi visited Shaanxi. Guangren Temple is the palace where Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama and other lamas from the northwest and Kangzang area passed through Shaanxi on their way to Beijing, so it is also called 'Lama Temple'. The temple houses one of the only two life-size statues of Buddha at the age of twelve in the world, the largest Thousand-Hand Guanyin in Shaanxi, and the only exquisite Thousand Buddha Hall in China. It is also the place where Princess Wencheng was worshipped in Chang'an. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
