Explore the Peaceful Beauty of Boudhanath Stupa
Visiting Boudhanath Stupa was a deeply peaceful experience. The massive white dome, crowned by Buddha’s watchful eyes, radiates calm. Walking the kora (circumambulation) with locals, spinning prayer wheels, and soaking in the energy felt meditative.
At sunset, the stupa glowed with butter lamps, creating a magical atmosphere. Sitting at a rooftop café, sipping chai while watching life around the stupa, was a moment of pure serenity.

Boudhanath Stupa: Peace, Prayer Wheels, and Butter Tea
I really enjoyed visiting Boudhanath Stupa. It’s such a peaceful place with the big stupa in the middle and lots of colorful prayer flags flying around. I walked around it a few times, spinning the prayer wheels, and just soaking in the calm vibe.
One thing I wasn't sure about was Tibetan butter tea. It’s made with black tea, milk, salt, and butter, and I thought it sounded weird at first. But after trying it, I actually liked it! The salty, creamy taste was pretty good, especially when it’s chilly outside.
I also liked hanging around the area—there are lots of little shops and cafes. If you go, try to visit early in the morning. It’s much quieter and you get a better feel of the place without the crowds. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Kathmandu.

[Kathmandu🇳🇵] A hilltop Buddhist temple registered as a World Heritage Site🛕
Located on top of a hill in Kathmandu, Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple.
The reason is that there are wild monkeys everywhere! 🐒
I had heard that there were a lot of monkeys, but I was surprised to see more than I expected...
At the top of the hill, there is a stupa with Buddha's eyes 🛕
It has such a unique shape that this style of stupa is synonymous with Nepal 🙄
There is also a cylindrical prayer wheel, which is said to have the same meaning as chanting a sutra once when turned once.
The style is that you turn a lot of them in a clockwise direction, so you can turn them around once to receive the benefits 😉
Please go and check it out~

Pretty, Cosy Cafe at Khumaltar | Himalayan Java
#cafestory #Himalayanjava #Khumaltar #kathmandu #nepal
Himalayan Java is one of the oldest coffee chains in Nepal. This cafe in Khumaltar, Lalitpur stands out in particular because of how pretty and cosy the ambience is. It has a small corner with book shelves with different genres of books, Suiro teas, chessboards, traditional artwork and paintings on the walls. The walnut brownie with icecream is a must here.
Patan Durbar Square - A must see UNESCO world heritage
Visiting Patan Durbar Square was an enchanting experience. The square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a stunning example of traditional Newari architecture, featuring intricate wood carvings, impressive temples, and historical palaces. The atmosphere was vibrant with locals and tourists alike, and the cultural richness of the area was palpable.
Wandering through the square, I admired the remarkable Krishna Mandir, the beautiful Taleju Bhawani Temple, and the impressive Patan Museum. Each corner of the square revealed another masterpiece, blending history, art, and spirituality seamlessly. The surrounding cafes and shops offered delightful local crafts and treats, making it a perfect spot to immerse oneself in Nepali culture.
After exploring Patan Durbar Square, I headed to the nearby mall to catch a movie. The mall itself was modern and well-maintained, providing a stark contrast to the ancient charm of the square. It offered a wide range of shops, eateries, and entertainment options, making it a convenient place to unwind.
I went to see "Deadpool and Wolverine" at the cinema in the mall. The theater was comfortable and clean, with excellent sound and picture quality. The movie was a thrilling blend of action and humor, and the audience's energy added to the excitement.
Overall, combining the historical depth of Patan Durbar Square with the modern amenities of the nearby mall made for a well-rounded and memorable day.#patan #nepal #kathmandu #durbarsquare

No matter it is driver, restaurant staff or shop keeper , they are always happy to chat with you. That’s what makes travellers happy, a warm and friendly welcome. I enjoyed my 2 weeks in Nepal and I am definitely visiting again! #Nepal #kathmandu #尼泊爾 #wecreate
Nepal is very underrated country!
I visited Nepal for 2 weeks and it was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. Nepalese are so kind and friendly, most people also speaks English so language barrier is not big issue.
The country also has so much good food, especially vegetarian and halal food, so it is suitable for people with different dietary requirements.
The weather in Nepal is also much cooler than neighbouring countries as it is surrounded by mountains. The view is always stunning no matter where you are.
Here are some of my recommendations for travelling to Kathmandu:
Things to do in Thamel:
- Visit Asan Bazar (huge bazar selling various items, remember to try the lassi around the area, one of the best I have ever tried)
- Visit Darbar Square, UNESCO world heritage, you need to get a ticket to visit, do check out the timing to see the living goddess (Kumari). She will show her face for around 30 seconds few times a day.
- Try “TipTop Samosa”, must try the samosa here, cheap, fresh and delicious $0.35USD for each only
- Visit Monkey Temple, one of the highest points in Kathleen. The view from there is amazing
- Have a cup of tea or snack at Rooftop restaurant at Flock Hostel and Yog Hostel, the view from there is stunning.#nepal #kathmandu #尼泊爾 #urbanexplorer #summervacation

“A Perfect Day in Kathmandu: Mo:Mo and Chai Adventures”
There’s no better way to spend a day in Kathmandu than indulging in its irresistible local flavors. My friends and I set out with one mission: to eat our weight in mo:mo and wash it down with endless cups of chai milk tea.
We started in a small, bustling eatery tucked away in the narrow streets of Thamel. The aroma of steamed dumplings greeted us before we even sat down. The first bite of the mo:mo—a soft, doughy parcel filled with spiced minced meat—was pure bliss. Dunking it in the fiery red chutney added just the right kick. We couldn’t stop ourselves from ordering plate after plate, including some quirky variations like cheese and chocolate mo:mo (yes, that’s a thing here!).
To cool down our spice-induced tears, we headed to a nearby tea stall for chai. Watching the vendor pour steaming tea into tiny clay cups felt like a ritual. The warm, sweet, and milky chai soothed our souls and kept us energized for more exploring.
The day was simple yet perfect: laughter, good food, and the lively chaos of Kathmandu as our backdrop. If there’s a better way to enjoy this city, I haven’t found it yet!
The Monkey Temple of Kathmandu: Swayambhu Mahabharata
Perched atop a hill overlooking Kathmandu, Swayambhu Mahachaitya (Monkey Temple) offered a perfect blend of serenity, history, and breathtaking views. The climb up the steep steps was worth it as I was greeted by colorful prayer flags, intricate carvings, and the peaceful gaze of Buddha’s eyes.
The atmosphere was alive with the chatter of monkeys, the hum of prayer chants, and the mesmerizing sight of locals and pilgrims turning prayer wheels. Watching the sunset over the Kathmandu Valley from here was unforgettable—a magical moment that left me in awe.

A Saturday Morning at Le Sherpa Farmers’ Market in Kathmandu
#magicalxmastrip #kathmandu
A Saturday morning in Kathmandu isn’t complete without a visit to the Le Sherpa Farmers’ Market, one of the city’s most beloved weekend spots. Located in the heart of Lazimpat, this market brings together a vibrant mix of fresh produce, artisanal goods, and a buzzing social atmosphere. It’s a gathering place for locals, expats, and travelers alike, offering a glimpse into the city’s growing love for organic and sustainable products.
The market runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and arriving early is key if you want to grab the freshest finds. Stalls are lined with colorful arrays of fresh fruits, vegetables, organic cheeses, baked goods, and even handmade crafts. Farmers and artisans from across Nepal bring their best to the market, making it a hub of creativity and sustainability.
After strolling through the stalls and filling up your bag with goodies, it’s time for the real treat: food and drinks with friends. I found myself sitting under a tree with a warm cup of masala tea, catching up on the week while the soft buzz of the market carried on around us.
For brunch, I couldn’t resist a banh mi, freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The crusty baguette was filled with pickled vegetables, herbs, and flavorful fillings that hit just the right spot. Sharing laughs, sipping tea, and enjoying the cool Kathmandu morning breeze made the experience even more special.
Whether you’re looking for farm-fresh produce, unique gifts, or simply a relaxed Saturday with friends, the Le Sherpa Farmers’ Market is the perfect place to spend your morning. It’s not just a market; it’s a community gathering that celebrates the best of what Kathmandu has to offer. Don’t forget to bring your own bag and stay for the great conversations!

Exploring Nepal
I like to plan my trips. However, on this occasion, I decided to just go with the flow. I'm glad I did. I booked my hotel through Trip.com and caught an Uber to the hotel, which was straightforward. Round the corner from our hotel was a travel agent in Kathmandu and booked our tour for the next 5 days with a guide. This was cost effective, and I learnt the local history.
I would recommend visiting Bhandipur, it is a small hillstation which is remote village, clean air and lovely people
