Showcasing Exquisite Tea Culture at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware
The Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware is a Declared Monument inside the Hong Kong Park. Construction for the Flagstaff House completed in 1846, and it is the oldest surviving western styled building in Hong Kong.
When it began its first chapter, the Flagstaff House was named the Headquarters House. Its first occupant was Major-General Goerge Charles D’Aguilar, whose name is now borne by Cape D’Aguilar and the D’Aguilar Lighthouse. As the Commander of British Troops in China, D’Aguilar was a military officer when he arrived in Hong Kong in 1843. In 1844, he was appointed the Leutenant Governor of Hong Kong, and the Headquarter House was built specifically as his residence.
In 1932, the building was renamed the Flagstaff House, but it served as the residence of the Commander of British Forces until 1978. During the Japanese Occupation years, the Japanese imperial forces also used it as the residence for its military commander in Hong Kong.
The beautiful building became the Museum of Tea Ware in 1984. In 1991, when the Hong Kong Park opened, the Museum of Tea Ware became the classy resident in the well-landscaped public garden. Since 1984, the Flagstaff House has become the Museum of Tea Ware with donated exhibits from the collection of Dr. Kwee Seong Lo, the founder of Vitasoy. A tour of this museum will enable visitors a view of the interiors of the Flagstaff House, and it is very worthwhile.

The Sitorai Mokhi Khosa — Where Russian Modernity Clashes with Uzbek Antiquity
The Russian invasion and exertion of power over Uzbekistan took place in the mid-19th century. In 1865, the Russian Empire had already taken Tashkent and made it the capital of Russian Turkestan. At the cusp of Russia’s invasion of Bukhara, which took place in that same period, the various regions of Uzbekistan were ruled by khanate kingdoms. This part of Uzbek history was known as the Khanate era.
Throughout the 1860s or so, the Russians have waged their wars in Bukhara, and in 1866, the Bukharans were defeated. In 1868, the Emir accepted vassal status after the defeat in the Battle of Zerabulak. It was at that time that the Emir ceded Samarkand to the Russians as well. At this point, it could not be said that the Russians were ruling Bukhara yet. Rather, the Emir still retained power in the administration and control of Bukhara and other territories. Bukhara was yet to be incorporated into the Russian Empire formally.
Built in 1911, the Sitorai Mokhi Khosa stands testament to a watershed in Bukharan and Uzbek history. Its name meaning “Palace Like the Stars and the Moon,” the Sitorai Mokhi Khosa was built by Russian engineers for Emir Alim Khan in 1911, “as an inducement to get him out of the Ark fortress and safely ensconced in a strategic and cultural no-man’s land on the edge of town.” (Calum Macleod)
The architecture shows prominent and grandiose eastern European features. At first glance, it certainly conveys the sense of luxury to which the royalty of Bukhara felt entitled.
According to the descriptions on site, the exterior of the Sitorai Mokhi Khosa was that of Russian architecture, but the interiors were fitted with traditional Bukharan elements.

Serious Learning of Uzbek History at the State Museum of History in Tashkent
Formerly the National Museum of Turkestan, The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan in Tashkent was first founded in 1876. It was also known as the Lenin Museum during the Soviet times, as it was built to commemorate the centennial of Lenin’s birthday in 1970. The building showcases concrete grilles on the exterior walls with traditional Uzbek patterns called Panzhara. This architectural feature is considered a rare example of Soviet architecture incorporating explicit non-Soviet, multicultural elements.
The museum presents the most comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s long history, from early neolithic settlement all the way to the formal establishment of its modern statehood (independence) in 1991.
Here is what the museum had to say as a welcome introduction to visitors:
Lying on the crossroad of great routes of the east, the Uzbekistan civilization was interacting with the advanced cultures of the east and the west. The first world religion – Zoroastrianism – was formed here, and other world religions – Buddhism and Christianity – have found a fertile field here. The highest level of Uzbekistan civilization has been manifested by the great contribution made by its representatives… in the strengthen of Islam as the world religion.
A defining modern event in the history of Uzbekistan is the Earthquake of 1966 in Tashkent. The museum featured a clock that was broken by the earthquake at the very moment that the earthquake struck. The 5.2 magnitude earthquake devastated Tashkent, destroying much of the city’s existing infrastructures. 300,000 of its residents were rendered homeless. The beautiful metro stations in Tashkent were part of the effort to restore the city from the earthquake. In the next three years, reconstruction of the whole city managed to restore life back to normalcy for the people.
Fast forward to September 1, 1991, Uzbekistan finally declared independence as a republic after the final demise of the Soviet Union. It has since maintained a close relationship with its Central Asian neighbors, and was very much within Russia’s zone of influence as well. The former President Islam Karimov was the Secretary of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan at the time of independence. He declared Uzbekistan an independent state following the attempted coup in Moscow in 1991. Uzbekistan was the second in the Central Asian nations to declare independence, after Kyrgyzstan.
President Islam Karimov remained in power until his death on September 2, 2016. He was the authoritarian ruler of Uzbekistan for a full 25 years, despite explicit constitutional provisions that limited presidential terms to two only. His third term of presidency was extended by the means of a referendum.

Proudly Historic as a Fortified Ancient Town — The Dapeng Fortress
The Dapeng Fortress might be my favorite ancient town in Shenzhen.
A leisurely walk of the whole Dapeng Fortress would take about 2 to 2.5 hours.
The Dapeng Fortress was constructed during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century. In 1394, the 27th year of the Hongwu Reign of Ming Dynasty, the authorities began constructing the Dapeng Fortress, which was intended to serve exclusively defense purposes against pirates, foreign enemies and resistance fighters. Together with the Nantou Ancient City in Nanshan, Shenzhen, the Dapeng Fortress was one of the 24 defense outposts along the mountain ridges of Lingnan (southern China). The Dapeng Fortress was especially important for coastal defense during the Qing Dynasty. In 1704, the 43rd year of the Kangxi Reign, the Qing Court turned the Dapeng Fortress into a naval base, which oversees the coastal defense of all of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. This role of the Dapeng Fortress would be very important during the Opium Wars of the 1800s.
In 1839, General Lai Enxi, who was a native of Dapeng, sounded the canons that would signal the defense of Kowloon against British attacks. Thus the curtains were drawn for the Opium Wars. After Hong Kong Island was ceded to Britain in 1940 and before ceding Kowloon to the British in 1860, the Qing Court has constructed the Walled City of Kowloon for the purpose of defending Kowloon. At the time, generals from the Dapeng Fortress oversaw the Walled City of Kowloon. As such, the Dapeng Fortress had a very close relationship with the history of Hong Kong.

Discover Malaysia’s History at Muzium Negara.
Right in the centre of the city and easily accessible from most tourist areas such as the Petronas Towers, Bukit Bintang and Pavilion Shopping Mall is The National Museum of Malaysia.
This museum - also called Muzium Negara - focuses solely on the history of the Malay Peninsula and the Malay people from prehistoric times until now. It is really interesting to see the dioramas and maps of how the land was formed and how Bronze Age people lived on this peninsula.
Moving into to the modern age, there are many interesting artefacts covering the colonial period - did you know the Malays had to fight Portuguese, Dutch AND British colonists over time? I particularly loved examining the intricacy of the many sculptures, and the finely woven colorful textiles made for especially for nobility.
A fairly small museum but with many varied and well chosen exhibits, this is a great way to spend an hour getting to learn about Malaysia’s local culture.
Top Tip: Two other museums are in the same direct area (the Ethnology Museum and the Islamic Arts Museum) so if you’re a museum buff you can do all three in one morning.

A Few Hours to Broaden Your Mind
I found this place by accident. I didn't expect that the Planetarium would be joined with the museum, but it made for a great little afternoon to go through the museum while I waited for the Planetarium show to run. A show ticket gets you free entrance to the museum. Great deal!
There are modern parts to the museum as the older parts still there. I liked that it had a large variety of things to see and yet, not overwhelm you with information about each thing.
For those who get bored easily in museums, try this challenge (even kids!): Pick one subject that you see that may interest you and rest everything there about it. The rest, casually browse. This way you walk out of there learning something new with some depth.
I liked how at the end of the show, there was a short lesson in identifying planets and stars using the night sky for that evening!

One of the best experiences for a museum. I could spend hours exploring this place and also it is worth the ticket price. The place opens at 10 am and is near Higashi mukojima station. There were plenty of locals in the place. lots of family were spending their Sunday experience the different sections. There are many train simulator games. I get to try two different ones. This is a place for train enthusiasts. I saw a few of them, they even dressed up as a train conductor, bringing along a clipboard and train schedule. At first I thought they were a staff member but then realized the staff were dressed differently. This place is good for photo taking. Besides the train and train cabin there are also buses in the museum. A very nice place to relax. There are rest area that replicate the train and bus cabin and people were taking naps. We decided to join in after a long walk .

A very nice day for the Museum Singapore 🇸🇬
#singaporetrip
The National Museum of Singapore, the photography exhibition is very important to me.
The National Museum of Singapore, in fact, traces the history of Singapore, and there is nothing to see. After all, Singapore is not very big. It is full of people and things in the history of China, the United Kingdom and India and the island. I think the photography exhibition downstairs is particularly worth seeing. The scenery and humanistic history recorded are still very shocking and worth seeing!
When I went there, I came in from #Singapore Fukangning Park. Behind the #Singapore National Museum is this park. Of course, there is also an Internet celebrity tree cave, and you can also navigate directly to the main entrance of the museum. You don't need to make an appointment. You can go directly to the service desk on the first floor to buy tickets.
They can speak Chinese. You can communicate directly. The museum on the first floor is S$10, plus the photo exhibition pass downstairs is S$24. Only cash and cards are accepted.

One of a kind museum in Pittsburgh!
#getgoing2025 #Andywarhol #museum #art #pittsburgh
Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh really gives you an insight into Andy Warhol’s life who was born and raised in Pittsburgh. It is very unique and I loved how the exhibits were organized chronologically. They had some interactive sections too. Isn’t it amazing that it is the largest museum in USA to be dedicated to one artist? They also have a cute gift shop from where I picked some souvenirs. This museum really sheds light on how Andy played such a major role in Pop Art. I recommend everyone interested in art to really do check this museum. It is a top attraction in Pittsburgh.
Fantastic museum for natural history!

Visiting the Smithsonian National Museum of National History is such an awe-inspiring experience. The exhibits are so well-organized and diverse. The amount of detail provided is extensive. Staff here is very knowledgeable. My favorite exhibit is the mammals and dinosaurs one. This museum also has the famous Hope Diamond. The best part is visiting this museum is absolutely free. You must visit this museum for its educational and engagement value.

💞Reasons to Recommend: They have done a fantastic makeover inside and out, with world class exhibits showing the diversity of Philippine culture. I don't think the museum was meant to be an academic exercise for visitors but it is to show appreciation for the cultural diversity of the Philippines dating back to Austronesian times, from 2,500 BC and back. It was an interesting visit for me.

A budget Teamlabs in Shanghai - not Tokyo.
You wanna go to Teamlabs borderless in Tokyo but can’t travel to Japan? Come here instead. The “Shanghaixingkong art museum” is basically a smaller version of Teamlabs, divided into 9 rooms with different themes and packed into the third floor of a mall🏢
Even though the rooms are not that big and it only takes around 10 minutes to walk through all of them, you can still get some great pictures there📷
Since the mall in which the museum is located, is right next to Shanxi road so it’s pretty easy to get to and for around $5 for a ticket, it also won’t break the bank💸🏖️

Fun For All The Family, The Nagoya City Science Museum
The Science museum of Nagoya is a great place to check out if you’re visiting the city, especially if you have children.
The entrance fee depends on your choices but you can do the museum, planetarium and any of the special exhibitions. However the planetarium experience is only in Japanese so I only did the museum.
The museum displays are also just in Japanese but the audio guide is very helpful!
The museum is separated by theme and there are lots of interactive exhibits on each floor. The highlight for me being the tornado simulator and the huge model railway - highlighting the different transport infrastructure of Nagoya.
Follow the escalators up and go floor by floor, then get the glass lift down as it offers a great views of the surrounding area.
Head to Fushimi metro stop and follow the signs!
