A Soul-Stirring Journey to Kumano Kodo and Nachi Falls
In the cold winds of winter, I embarked on a journey to the Kumano Kodo. This ancient pilgrimage route, carrying the faith and history of countless pilgrims, is something I will personally experience today for its mysterious and awe-inspiring charm.
From JR Kii-Katsuura Station, I took a bus to Daimonzaka. The fresh air was filled with the fragrance of trees, and the towering cedar trees around me stood like guardians, quietly watching every traveler who came. As I climbed the rugged stone steps, I could feel the power and challenge of nature, each step like conversing with ancient legends. The cold mountain wind hit my face, making me shiver, but the anticipation in my heart grew stronger.
When I reached the long staircase, the challenge of 470 steps left me breathless. Each time I looked up, the vermilion torii gate gradually came into view, filling me with awe. This is the road to the gods, and every step feels like paying homage to that invisible force. The trees along the way were tall and lush, with sunlight filtering through the gaps in the leaves, creating dappled light and shadow, making me feel the tranquility and sanctity of nature.
After passing the three-story pagoda of Seiganto-ji Temple, the sight of Nachi Falls finally appeared before me. At that moment, the breathtaking scenery took my breath away. The waterfall cascaded down from a great height, the water shimmering like a silver ribbon in the sunlight, and the deafening sound of the water echoed in my ears, as if telling a thousand-year-old story. The immense drop of Nachi Falls inspired awe, with the mist dancing in the air like the aura of a fairyland, soothing the soul of every pilgrim.
Standing in front of the waterfall, feeling the mist gently caress my cheeks, it felt like a blessing from the gods, filling my heart with emotion. The surrounding forest was silent, with only the roaring sound of the water, intertwining with the cold winter air, creating a magnificent picture. This is Japan's tallest waterfall, with a height of 133 meters, making me deeply appreciate the greatness and power of nature. The scenery before me made me realize the profound and awe-inspiring combination of faith and nature.
This journey to the Kumano Kodo was not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual cleansing. The awe-inspiring and majestic Nachi Falls made me understand the power of faith and the infinite charm of nature. I will always remember this journey, with gratitude in my heart, looking forward to returning to this sacred land again.
