Once inside Xitang Ancient Town, you will find many stores and home stays. However, the ticket for entry to the Ancient Town also offers entry to the small museums inside here. One of these is the China Wine Museum. It’s quite small in size but it is filled with ceramics and wine related objects from various areas of China. Each piece has a detailed label of its history and how it could be used. Walking around here will take only 20-30 minutes maximum as it’s only 3 rooms in total. It’s quiet inside but AC is not included. Xitang is an Ancient Town that’s quiet and out of the way. It’s classed as Zhejiang Province, in the small town of Jiashan, Jiaxing. I found it easier to reach there by taking a train to Jiashan South and then a didi to reach the entrance. The didi cost 70RMB each way. Entrance into the ancient town is 95RMB, this also guarantees entry into the small museums inside the town. Many small boutiques and cafes are lining the streets, it’s easy to follow the routes along the river, even crossing over the bridges regularly to see both sides. Xitang is like many ancient towns, winding roads that you can follow at random. Many of the places in the West area seem closed but just behind the hotels you can find this cute cafe and bar. Whole Life Coffee and Bar has a range of coffee styles and small food items to enjoy. The atmosphere inside is funky and fun, the owner is really friendly. The menu is only in Chinese though so be prepared to translate or know your order. Prices range from 28RMB upwards.
