Split Croatia 🇭🇷
#traveldiaries
I recently spent a few days in Split, Croatia, and it was an unforgettable experience! The city is a perfect blend of history and modernity, with Diocletian’s Palace at the heart of it all. Walking through the narrow streets of the Old Town feels like stepping back in time, with Roman ruins blending seamlessly into modern shops and cafes. The best part? Entrance to the palace is free, although some areas, like the cathedral and bell tower, require a small fee (around €5-10).
One of the highlights was hiking up Marjan Hill, where the views of the city and Adriatic Sea are breathtaking. Afterward, I cooled off with a swim at Bačvice Beach, which is just a short walk from the center. If you’re into nature, a quick ferry ride can take you to the nearby islands like Hvar or Brac for a day trip.
Split is also full of great restaurants and bars – the seafood is fresh and the local wine is fantastic. It’s hard not to fall in love with this city’s charm and the laid-back Mediterranean vibe.

During my summer vacation in Croatia, I had the chance to explore Diocletian's Palace in Split, and it was absolutely captivating! 🏰🌟 Located in the heart of Split, this ancient Roman palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved Roman monuments. The entrance to the main attractions within the palace area is free, though some specific sites and museums might charge a small fee.
Walking through the palace, you’ll find yourself transported back in time with its impressive architecture and historical charm. The blend of ancient ruins with vibrant modern life is fascinating, especially in the bustling Peristyle Square and the Temple of Jupiter. I also loved wandering through the narrow streets lined with shops and cafes, which give a lively, contemporary feel to the historical surroundings.
Nearby, you can visit the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, which offers stunning views from its bell tower, and the Riva promenade, perfect for relaxing by the sea. Diocletian’s Palace is a must-see for anyone interested in history and architecture.
