Bergen, the Fjord City of Norway
After a seven-hour train journey from Oslo, you arrive in the beautiful city of Bergen, and the sight that greets you is breathtaking. Nestled within the fjords, this city is surrounded by magnificent natural scenery. Bergen is primarily built on the fjords, so apart from the flat areas near the sea, the rest of the city is almost entirely made up of slopes, either uphill or downhill.
To fully appreciate the grandeur of the fjords, I highly recommend visiting the Fløyen Panorama viewpoint. From there, you can overlook the ships entering and leaving the harbor and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the entire city. There are two ways to reach the top of Mount Fløyen: one is to hike, which takes about an hour and a half; the other is to take the funicular, which takes only ten minutes to reach the summit. My personal suggestion is to take the funicular up and then hike down, so you can fully experience the natural vegetation and scenery of the mountain.
Compared to Oslo, Bergen offers more for tourists. I recommend staying in this charming city for an extra two days, leisurely strolling through its enchanting streets and savoring everything it has to offer.
A colorful Nordic city
#myhiddengems
No doubt Scandinavia and the Nordic areas are all very beautiful. They are beyond unique and offer a distinct European experience. Some would not even call it European. They're never light on the pocket though. This is the reason why I have done several Nordic destinations, all in bits and pieces, shorter stays and thankfully on some cheapest flights available.
Bergen is once such beautiful destinations. I am very fascinated by those colorful houses/architecture you can find in several Scandinavian countries. Bergen being the second largest city in Norway, offers that and much more for the eyes. Mostly cold, but I have been told locals that it is still very mild compared to a lot of other destinations in this part of the world.
The very fascinating long summer days go an extra mile here. Duringna trip there in June, I found the sun rising in the wee hours ( 4 am'ish) and then not sitting till it's midnight. You cannot imagine how long but nice the days feel! Places to eat, drink and party surprisingly stay open till very late. Twice I have expericned them past 3am.
The people were very friendly and threw I such insightful tips. Hiking is particular was great around Bergen. The friends I made even joined me and being around locals completely changes the quality of your holidays. I found the food to be amusing and the scenery stunning in every experience. Perhaps you ought to try some for yourself. #mysummerdestinations #nordic #myhiddengems #norway #100waysoftravel #solotrip #Bergen #Singapore

Beautiful city in Norway 🇳🇴
#falltrip
Bergen is one of the popular tourist destinations in Norway, as know as the artistic strength. As this place has lots of successful artists and bands, for example, Aurora and Kygo.
In my recent trip to Bergen, I have visited the city centre and the Ulriken mountain, which are absolutely beautiful. The view on the top is amazing and i really enjoyed being in there. The height of Ulriken is 643 metres above the sea level, so get well prepared for the cool weather and unexpected rain!

Mountain and Sea
Bergen is a lovely town in Norway that’s known for the sea surrounding it as well as the mountains.
Head to the old part of town to have a nice cinnamon roll along with a cup of coffee before exploring the colorful wooden houses that line the harbor.
You can then head to the fish market for some fresh seafood and a famous seafood soup.
afterwards, what I find one the main highlights of the city, you can take the cute little funicular to the top of the mountain to get a lovely bird’s eye view of the city. if you’re keen, you can also hike the surrounding areas to truly enjoy nature.
Bergen is an easy and compact city to visit! You have a great mix of nice city life while being only minutes away from the lovely Nordic nature.

Beautiful town - Bergen, Norway!
It was such a pleasant tour to visit this coastal town. The town centre has a lot of historical buildings and many things to see. Bergen is the heaven for nature lovers! I went hiking there to 3 of the mountains and all very amazing, though there were two days which were kinda cloudy and rained a little. The view was best during sunny days. People there are extremely nice and friendly! I’m in love with such friendliness and cheap seafood!

Hotels - various
Food & Restaurants - various (had the best Thai food and yummy fish and chip during the trip)
Shopping - fish market, souvenirs
Whilst in Europe for holiday, we specially flew to visit Bergen for a few days. Bergen has a lot of popular sites like Bryggen Wharf (first photo) and the Floyen Mountain and a lot of fresh seafood restaurant and fish market.
It has a small town feel with a urban charm at the same time. One can spend a lot of times exploring the many cobblestone alleys and you never know what you might discover.
One can also explore Western Norway (which include country’s best fjords) from Bergen.

Bergen, Norway 🇳🇴
#0yentravel
The first city in Norway was Bergen, a city in the Westland region facing the west coast that was once the capital.
The Bryggen area is a World Heritage Site where colorful and cute wooden houses with triangular roofs are lined up like a maze.
The streetscape of wooden warehouses built by German merchants seems to have been the model for the kingdom of Arendelle, the setting of Frozen☺️
Starting a 2,400 km boat trip from Bergen, the gateway to fjord tourism, to Kirkenes in the north⛴

A Breathtaking Reward Overcoming My Fear of Heights in Bergen 😎 #fløbanen
I never imagined I could trade my acrophobia for such a soul-stirring scene. The #Fløbanen Funicular in #Bergen gifted me a view I will cherish forever.
As the funicular climbed higher and higher up Mount #Fløyen, my heart raced—but not from fear. Anticipation grew with every meter gained in altitude. When we emerged at the top, I gasped. Before me sprawled a panorama of Bergen's red rooftops, crystalline waters, verdant islands, and the majestic coastline beyond. For a moment, I forgot even to breathe.
Basking in the sun, surrounded by a tapestry of fragrant pines, I felt as though I had stumbled into a dream. I pinched myself to make sure I was awake in this alpine paradise.
To reward my bravery for overcoming my usual acrophobia, I indulged in an ice cream at Fløistuen, the charming café perched at the summit. As I savored each cool, creamy bite, I congratulated myself on discovering this new thrill of trading fear for the privilege of witnessing such beauty. The scenic wonder I beheld from the top of Mount Fløyen was a gift I will always treasure—and an perfect prize for conquering my doubts.
Bergen charmed me in countless ways, but nothing cast a spell quite like the vista from atop that mountain. Gazing out at the panorama of fjords and sea, land and sky, I felt certain I had found one of the most breathtaking rewards in all of #Norway .
