Discover the beauty of Hehuanshan with stunning sunrise view
Mount Hehuan (合欢山) is a 3,416-metre-high (11,207 ft) mountain in Central Taiwan. The peak lies on the border of Nantou and Hualien counties and is located within Taroko National Park. Hehuanshan is a popular destination in central Taiwan.
The highlight of our Taroko trip.Though it was about 3 degrees C, but the view of the beautiful sunrise warms the heart. It can get quite crowded with other tourist who are there for the same purpose of watching the sunrise in the morning or sunset in the evening. For photography folks, it is a must visit to capture the magnificent views.

If you love museums, please do not skip this place when you are in Taipei. Be prepared to spend at least half a day or more and remember to wear comfortable walking shoes. This museum is huge and the exhibits are very spaciously displayed across different levels. The theme of the exhibition is different every time I go there
The treasures on display are also different. Jade cabbage is currently in the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
A Peaceful Retreat at Qingjing Farm: My Taiwan Adventure
#asiatrip
During my visit to Taiwan, I discovered the serene beauty of Qingjing Farm, tucked away in the mountains of Nantou. This gem is a true escape into nature’s calm embrace, with rolling green hills, misty clouds, and the crisp mountain air that instantly refreshes your soul.
Exploring the Green Green Grasslands was an unforgettable experience. Watching sheep and horses roam freely felt like stepping into a postcard-perfect scene. The walking paths were easy to navigate, even with the light mist, making every moment enjoyable and relaxing.
The farm’s charming windmills and rustic barns gave it a cozy European countryside vibe, offering endless photo opportunities. The cool weather and the soft sounds of nature created a tranquil atmosphere that felt like a welcome break from the rush of city life.
One of my favorite moments was visiting the Guanshan Pastoral Area, where I saw the harmony between humans and nature. Watching the sheep wander freely and interact with visitors was such a simple yet heartwarming experience.
Qingjing Farm is a place that truly stole my heart. It’s the perfect destination for anyone looking to reconnect with nature while enjoying the peaceful beauty of Taiwan’s mountains. If you plan a trip to Taiwan, don’t miss this incredible spot—and be sure to bring a jacket for the cool weather!

Nature, look what you’ve done! Exploring the Wonders of Yehliu Geopark
Yehliu Geopark, located along Taiwan’s northern coast in Wanli District, is a natural marvel that feels like stepping onto another planet. Known for its unique rock formations shaped by thousands of years of wind and sea erosion, this iconic destination is a must-visit for nature lovers and geology enthusiasts alike.
One of the most famous formations at Yehliu is the Queen’s Head, a striking rock that resembles a regal profile. It’s the park’s most photographed attraction, but don’t stop there—other formations like the Mushroom Rocks, Fairy’s Shoe, and Dragon’s Head are equally captivating. Each rock tells its own story, with shapes and textures that ignite the imagination.
Fun fact: Yehliu Geopark is part of a 1,700-meter-long cape that juts into the Pacific Ocean. The area’s geological composition, primarily sandstone, makes it particularly susceptible to erosion, creating the surreal landscape you see today.
Walking through the park, you’ll not only admire the rock formations but also enjoy panoramic ocean views. The contrasting colors of the rugged coast against the blue sea make for a breathtaking backdrop.
Yehliu Geopark is more than just a geological site—it’s a place where nature’s artistry takes center stage. From the awe-inspiring formations to the coastal beauty, this unique destination is sure to leave you spellbound.

Quaint Charm of Taipei

When I visited Taiwan for a trip with friends, I immediately fell in love with the place. It feels like I'm looking at Taiwan through a filter. There's an old world feel even at the center and I've been wanting to come back and experience the feeling again.
We stayed at Ximending, just a few minutes walk away from the train station. The location is perfect for us since it's near the shopping district and there are food options around the area. We tried food that are recommended by our online researches. I loved the braised pork rice, the xiao long baos, and mango shaved ice we tried. We also went to the typical landmarks and tourist spots found in Taipei. My favorite probably is the Elephant Mountain because of the worthy Taipei 101 view but to be honest, I had a hard time climbing the steps to the viewpoints, my legs were sore and painful during the remaining days of our trip. Listed below are some of the places we visited in Taipei.
- Taipei 101
- Elephant Mountain
- Raohe Night Market
- Ximen Red House
- Lungshan Temple
- Huashan 1914 Creative Park
- Songshan Cultural & Creative Park
I will go back again for sure and experience what we missed during our trip before.

Explore These Gems Outside Taipei
#voyagevibes
Going out of Taipei, Taiwan still has a lot to offer. There's more of nature attractions, unique activities and whimsical places to visit. My friends and I opted to do a DIY tour outside Taipei. We rode a very adventurous crowded public bus and trains. We visiter Taiwan on a November and even though there's a bit of rain, we still pushed through with our plans. We visited the majestic Shifen Waterfalls. There are lots of viewpoints and food options scattered around the waterfalls. Be sure to bring jackets when visiting as it's cold due to the weather and the splash coming from the falls. Another activity we did was to light sky lanterns along the train tracks. We also ate xiao long bao and noodles here. We then proceeded to go see A-Mei Tea House which inspired the Studio Ghibli film, Spirited Away. The tea house was so pretty. It feels magical with all the lanterns lighted up around the area and on the building. The place is super crowded though, take note. It also doesn't help that it's still drizzling. We tried the peanut ice cream roll here. We were also able to dine in the tea house itself and get tea as it was really very cold. Our ride back to Taipei is a bus which we were able to catch by queueing. It was overall a memorable experience. Will come back again.

Alishan in the Mist
Alishan, a large national park in Taiwan, offers several nature trails for hiking. The highlights of visiting Alishan include:
1) Ancient pine forests that are thousands of years old, giving a sense of nature's immense power.
2) Watching the sunrise early in the morning amidst light fog and green mountain peaks.
3) Alishan Forest Railway, a romantic train route that resumed full service in July 2024.
Travel Information:
1) Take the Alishan Forest Railway from Chiayi Station to Alishan Station.
2) Alternatively, take a bus from Chiayi city, which takes about 2:30 hours.
Tips:
1) Recommended hiking trails suitable for beginners with easy paths and short distances:
1.1) Shuishan Trail: This trail passes through the classic old railway route and leads to a thousand-year-old sacred tree.
1.2) Zhaoping Park: The starting point of popular hiking trails like Sister Ponds and large pine forests. This trail is easy as it consists of stairs throughout. Along the way, you will encounter uniquely shaped large trees.
1.3) Duigaoyue Station: Offers high vantage points for viewing and photo opportunities with the railway tracks. During our visit in late autumn, we encountered thick fog.
2) Sunrise Viewing Spot: MT. OGASAWARA VIEWING LOT is a popular spot for watching the sunrise. Traveling by train may be crowded, but you can avoid this by using the park's bus service.
Hualien Secret Hotel [Yangyuemeidi]
Compared with the familiar five-star hotel brands, this hotel in Ji'an Township has no exaggerated advertisements and is quietly, low-key and noble located in the fields.
The room is quite spacious, with a King size double bed with moderate firmness.
In addition to the stool at the end of the bed, there is a set of double sofas and side tables next to it. The bathroom space is also very comfortable, and the bathtub in the middle adds a touch of elegance to the entire atmosphere. What's special is that there is a steam room in the room. The steam operates for about 2-3 minutes at a time. The lavender fragrance makes the whole room immersed in a light and relaxing atmosphere.
The entire hotel is composed of building, swimming pool and garden elements. The facilities are well maintained. The circulation layout changes from empty to indoor to garden to swimming pool. You can feel the transformation and change of space experience at every step. Although the park is not big, it is small, beautiful and exquisite.
The only shortcomings are probably the plain meals and unaccustomed supplies..
Visitors are advised to prepare their own toiletries. Although the products provided by the hotel are natural, I personally find them a little drying when I use them.
If the meals can be richer and more delicious, it will definitely bring the accommodation experience to a higher level.
The hotel is not surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city, but it is not far from the city.
It’s worth staying when you visit Hualien😊
💰Per capita consumption: The price of a double room on weekdays is about 6000NT/night (the actual price is subject to the booking website!)

Lost in Jiu Fen
Jiu Fen old street used to be known as the spirited away animation. Many say that Ah Mei tea house looks like the bath house in that animation and many claimed it was inspired by Jiu Fen old street. However Miyazaki (the author) debunkers the rumours. It has a lot of ‘No Face’ character in most of the souvenirs shop. However this time I saw very little of it. Nevertheless, it still worth to visit, it still giving ghibi vibes. The nearby mountains also very nice place to hike for the sunset. Definitely will come again to explore more 🤩
