Conquer Silabur Cave: Why Adidas Kampung is a Must for Your Adventure
#hikingtime #100waysoftravel #cave #borneo #kuching
The best hiking experience in the Kuching area has to be the trek to Silabur Cave. The cave itself is stunning, with impressive formations and vast chambers that are truly awe-inspiring. The hike is a thrilling adventure, featuring challenging terrain and lush surroundings that make the journey just as enjoyable as the destination. To get there, drive about 90 minutes from Kuching to Kampung Lobang Batu, the starting point. Going with a local guide is essential—they’ll prepare ropes for climbing across the cave, ensuring your safety. Afterward, you can shower at the guide’s house before heading home, making it a perfect end to an adventurous day.
Cave with a river in the gorge
#100WaysOfTravel Situated in a very remote location in the Chiangjiang area of Hainan, you will descover a massive cave! This cave is hidden between the mountains and the gorge. This is one of my favorite places on the island because it is quiet, it has the most spectacular views and it is sacred to the locals.
Many of the local villages on the island that lives close to the cave go inside to worship. As you walk up to the mouth of the cave, it seems to be small, however once inside the main chamber, you will notice the massive area!
🔦Take a flashlight with you (rentals are available outside)
☔️During rainy days, do wear shoes that have grip and can get dirty.
🎟️ Free entry
Bonus: There are two main chambers, once you walked through to the back of the first, there is a metal staircase leading you outside, follow the path to discover the next room!
Upon your return to the main chamber entrance, have a look if you see a face or a heart from the light entering from outside?

🇱🇰 Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. It is one of the most significant and best-preserved cave temple complexes in the country. Located in central Sri Lanka, near the town of Dambulla, this site has been a sacred pilgrimage destination for over 22 centuries.
The temple consists of five main caves, each of which contains statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha and his life. There are more than 150 Buddha statues, along with depictions of various gods and goddesses. The largest statue is a 14-meter reclining Buddha carved out of the rock. Other statues include seated and standing Buddhas, as well as figures of gods and kings.

🇱🇰 The Largest cave temple complex in Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Inscribed in 1991 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple in Sri Lanka is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the country. This sacred site, built into five caves beneath an overhanging rock, has been a place of pilgrimage for over 22 centuries. The Buddhist mural paintings and statues within the caves are truly sights to behold.
The cave temple is located on a hill, 20 km from Sigiriya. The entrance ticket costs 2,000 rupees per person and can only be purchased at the ticket counter at the foot of the hill. From there, we had to climb many flights of stairs to reach the temple entrance. The views of the surrounding area on the way up were spectacular.
Before entering the temple, we had to remove our shoes, so wearing socks is recommended. Remember to wear modest clothing that covers your knees and shoulders while visiting sacred sites. There are many street vendors outside the temple selling sarongs, and it is also possible to rent a sarong to cover your knees before entering the temple.

🇱🇰 Two UNESCO World Heritage Sites You Should Not Miss in Sri Lanka
The ancient city of Sigiriya and Dambulla cave temple are two of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka that you should not miss if you visit Sri Lanka. The two sites are just 20 km apart so it is possible to visit both attractions within the same day. However, I recommend spending at least a few days to explore these sites at a more leisurely pace. Check out the three-day itinerary below!
Day 1:
Arrive at Colombo International Airport Ratmalana. Rest for a night in Negombo.
Day 2:
Travel to Sigiriya. Visit Dambulla Cave Temple on the way to Sigiriya.
The most convenient way to reach Sigiriya is by hiring a private car. The cheapest way is by taking local buses. We took 2 different local buses from Negombo and got off at Dambulla. It was fun albeit slightly inconvenient as we got to experience it the local way. From Dambulla you can either take a public bus or hire a tuk-tuk to Sigiriya.
Day 3:
Visit Sigiriya Lion Rock early in the morning. Hire a jeep ride to Minneriya National Park in the afternoon.
[Must-Visit Attractions]
1. Sigiriya Lion Rock: An ancient fortress built on top of a rock column
2. Dambulla Cave Temple: The largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the island
3. Minneriya National Park: Within an hour drive from Sigiriya, the park houses hundreds of Asian elephants which thrive on the Minneriya Tank.
[Must-Try Food]
There are plenty of roadside restaurants along Sigiriya Road and Hotel Road. Some of them offer a good view of the Sigiriya Lion Rock.
1. Hotel Sigiriya serves good buffet dinner.
2. Sigiriya Wew Thawulla Restaurant offers amazing views of the Lion Rock.
3. Sigiriya Lion Face serves good kattu with a stunning view of Lion Rock as a backdrop.
[Accommodation ]
We stayed in Hotel Sigiriya 2 km away from the entrance of Sigiriya Lion Rock with amazing views of the Lion Rock from the outdoor pool area.
📍 Hotel Sigiriya
Hotel Road, Sigiriya, Sigiriya, Sri Lanka
[Photo Spots]
1. Outdoor pool area of Hotel Sigiriya offers clear views of the Lion Rock. There is even a telescope by the pool for us to get a better view of the rock!
2. The journey to the top of the Lion Rock offers amazing views along the way.
3. Take pictures of the Lion Rock near the site entrance before the ascent to capture the full view of the rock.
[Tips]
1. Dambulla Cave Temple:
Before entering the temple we had to remove our shoes so wearing socks is recommended. Remember to wear modest clothing that covers your knee and shoulder while visiting sacred sites. There are lots of street sellers outside the temple selling sarong. It is also possible to rent a sarong to cover your knees before entering the temple.
2. Sigiriya Lion Rock:
Be prepared to have a workout while visiting the Lion Rock as there are around 1200 steps of stairs to climb throughout the visit. Wear comfortable shoes!

A Truly Hidden Gem in Bohol🇵🇭
#timetotravel
To be honest I didn't expect much from this cave but I was surprised with it's beauty. A little cave with but very well maintained especially the water. The rocks in the cave are beautifully formed which also adds to its beauty. We didn't get into the water because of time constraints but if ever we are in Bohol again, I want to swim in the water. Very picturesque and well lit. Entrance: 50 Pesos but if you want to swim then that is with extra charge of 75 pesos.
Address: Dauis, Bohol. You can take a tuktuk ride which will cost you 150-300 depending where you are starting but there are a lot of tour packages that will include this in your itinerary. Enjoy!!

We visit an artificial cavern with sculptures that refer not only to Buddha but also to characters from movies and television series.
The museum is located in the same place where the white temple is located and entrance to the museum is 50 baht and you can buy it at the entrance of the cave
When you enter you are captivated by the play of lights and at first teeth a little scared by some figures. but as we advance into the cave we end up finding Buddha in a very beautiful pool of water.

SongLong Rock Waterfall And Caves Park

If you are into lush greenery, beautiful waterfall hikes, don't miss out the SongLong Rock Waterfall located at No. 6, Xishan Rd, Zhushan Township, Nantou County, Taiwan 557.
This park requires an entrance fee provided if you want to take the shuttle which brings you pass the sun link sea hotel, into the Chulin Trial and also pass the flower centre at the Shanlinhsi Nature Park. But if you really want to save cost, I recommend you pay the shuttle up towards the falls and walk back down. Don't worry it won't be hot, during winter it will be cold and spring time pretty cooling cause of the beautiful trees.
So, the main attraction here is the waterfall located right at the end of the trial, it is not wheel chair friendly but it's well pathed. Sadly, during our time, the waterfall is dried up and there isn't much of a gushing if water. But its an impressive sight to see from this 30m waterfall up in a elevation of 1600m.

Should you visit Ao Nang, Krabi Thailand?🇹🇭
Ao Nang, Krabi📍
5 Nights in Krabi! Krabi was one of the places in Thailand that I was excited for, but it didn’t really meet our expectations. Similar to Koh Samui, Ao Nang felt totally full of tourists and completely dedicated to tourists.
One of my biggest hates is when people try and beckon you into their restaurant or shop😂and you just could not walk anywhere without someone shouting ‘tuk tuk’ or ‘hungry?? Please have lunch at our restaurant?!?’ - totally not what I’m seeking when travelling.
Nevertheless, we did some really good shopping in Ao Nang & a nice trip to Railay Beach.
I think it’s just made us realise that we aren’t into places that are extremely popular with tourists, especially when we aren’t much into partying or drinking🤷🏻♀️

SHOULD YOU VISIT KHAO SOK, THAILAND?🇹🇭
Khao Sok📍
2 nights in the most gorgeous place I’ve ever been. Khao Sok National Park consists of lush rainforests, deep caves, limestone cliffs and green lakes. We were lucky enough to stay on a floating bungalow, overlooking the breathtaking scenery.
The company that we booked with, Smiley Tours, took us on safari expeditions & jungle and cave trekking experiences.
The jungle & cave trekking was undoubtedly one of the scariest and most vulnerable experiences of my life!
The walk through the jungle was insanely dangerous. We walked on crumbling footpaths and rickety bridges. The caves were loaded with creatures that looked like they weren’t meant to be seen by humans, as if they were made for the dark and never should be seen by light- huge spiders, frogs, snake-like fish, bats, crabs.
We were constantly walking on wet, jagged rocks and placing our feet blindly within dark water.
But, despite the imminent danger of the trek, it was an experience that I will forever remember fondly, as I have never been able to see nature so untouched and in it’s truest form. Nature is frightening and formidable, but beautiful nonetheless!
