hosios loukas is the largest of three monasteries surviving from the middle byzantine period in greece. this church is a unesco preserved monastery, a very large and quiet beautiful church absolutely an amazing holy site. i made my visit from delphi to hosios loukas located near the town of distomo. the entrance ticket was 2 euro it is definitely worth the stop to make a visit however is it only able to access by a private tour buses or a vehicle. #unescoworldheritage #greece #monastery #byzantine

who could have thought this sacred and spiritual monasteries, a marvelous and incredible rock formation. it was an awe inspiring experienced i had during my trip to meteora. visiting each monasteries was crowded and had to slowly get along with the crowd from room to room. the fees for each monastery was only 3 euros and ladies need to wear a dress or skirt in order to enter however there were rentals of the skirt if needed. there were six monasteries altogether for viewing however each monastery has visiting hours therefore please check before the visits. it is definitely a must visit when in greece. #greece #monastery #meteora #rockformation

Meteora - UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greece that houses stunning multiple Eastern Orthodox Monasteries. We drove 4 hours from Athens to visit the site. This was during the Chritmas /New Year period thus there's also many local Greeks that visiting the area in the same time. There are currently 6 monastries still in operation and we visited 2 of them Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron and Holy Monastery of Varlaam. As a foreigner, we paid 3 euro per entry and I believed it is free for Greek. The landscape around the area was stunning and there are multiple photo spots along the route which you can take beautiful photos from. For whoever that wants to visit - recommend to be there earlier in the morning as from 1200 onwards, there are many locals which would cramp the small road and is hard to drive due to limited carpark spaces and everyone park on the side of the road. You will always see a long queue outside the bakery but do not worry, just walk into the restaurant and there are plenty of tables awaiting you. When I think of Guimaras, it always brings me to the memory of the monks living in enclosure with extreme sacrifices. Trip.com flies me to Manila-ilo-ilo. As I reached the Ilo-ilo international airport, by car i reached Ortiz Port. By riding a boat, i reached Jordan Port where I can arrange a 30 minute jeepney/ muti-cab to the Trappist Monastery in Brgy. San Miguel. I toured the monastery grounds with plenty of mango trees and spent a day of prayer and silence. I talk with the monk who are very friendly and full of wisdom about life. The place also can entertain overnight spenders. When I left the monastery grounds, I don't forget to buy jellies, jams, candies and more. All are products grown in Trappist grounds. The monastery looks really nice on the inside. When we went it was rather quiet, so a good opportunity to stay in peace for a bit and relax after a tiring morning of exploring Nice. The garden of the Monastery, with its rose garden and Mediterranean plants, is beautiful with a view that embraces a large part of the city, all the way to the sea. Henri Matisse, Roger Martin du Gard and Raoul Dufy are buried in the adjacent cemetery. The Monastery is without doubt the most emblematic site in Cimiez and we really enjoyed our time there.
