Location: Shiyan city in Hubei province. Getting here: Take a short fast train from Xi'an or Wuhan...two nearby cities. Shiyan is a really nice small city to spend a few days in. Perhaps the highlight of the city is found in people's park. Chongyang Pagoda. You can climb to the top of this attractive pagoda to get beautiful panoramic views of the city. There is a wonderful. it wall that goes around the old town. The air is fresh here and I flew my drone to get some wonderful aerial views. #yearofrabbit City 1/3 during our #lunarnewyear travels was the Enshi Prefecture in #hubei #china. We’d heard of the fantasy-like rivers, water so clear that boats appear to be floating on air. They were even more stunning in real life than we could have imagined. Bright red lanterns hanging from a cliffside rest-stop contrasted vibrantly against the ethereal blues all around us. The surroundings were quiet, as very few tourists travel to Enshi. We found ourselves wrapped in the sounds of the river’s gentle flow. While in Enshi, we also went to visit the stunning Stone Forest, as well as the canonical Grand Canyons. While each place held breathtaking sights, the calming sounds of the most crystalline river I’ve ever beheld will forever remain my favorite memory from our travels in beautiful Enshi. #mytripvlog #newyearadventure #tripblazers

The beautiful city of Jianshi is one of the most overlooked cities in China. This city is relatively isolated, mostly due to the mountainous landscape, that has limited the investment and development of this area. Which is more surprisingly, during epidemic in Hubei, most mountainous towns didn’t even presented a single case of COVID. It’s quite uncommon to see any tourists, transportation access is limited to railway. However, this also implies Jianshi county has an amazing area of virgin forests. This area is inhabited mostly by the Tujia and Miao minorities. Most common meal is hot pot, finding a coffee is almost impossible. This is due the very traditional lifestyle followed by the residents. However, once you reach you feel like jumping back in time, to traditional Chinese culture. The Yellow Crane Tower is Wuhan's most famous attraction. The original 黄鹤楼 was built in AD 223 but it has been rebuilt several times since then. In fact, the tower has been said to mirror the fortunes of China itself. The previous iteration burnt down in the late Qing Dynasty, when Wuhan was a treaty port forced open by the Great Powers. The current version, a convincing copy of the Qing tower (with the addition of a lift for those unable to climb the many stairs) was built during the PRC's opening up in the 1980s. Yellow Crane Tower overlooks the Yangtze and is in a lovely park containing another tower, tranquil gardens and a giant bell you can ring for a modest donation. I recommend going in the mid- to late-afternoon so you can spend a couple of hours enjoying the park before climbing the tower in time to see the sunset. Admission is a little steep but don't cheap out. I spent my October holiday in Enshi, Hubei. This place has truly a poetic beauty and wonders. The stone forest park even in a rainy weather wasn’t any less beautiful.
