National Forest Park

A ticket here cost 50RMB for the 5 areas of the park (see map photo) we managed to see 2 areas of the park. The first part we went to was Siming Lake, walking around here is relaxing and took us around 1 hour. We then took a 1 hour walk north to the higher area, starting at 6944 restaurant and leading to the waterfalls. This is a 40 minute walk from start to end on a jagged rock path. Be prepared. The nature is wonderful, could easily make a day of the trip and see more areas. All the areas are within walking distance to each other. Yuyao Nanlei Huang Zongxi Cultural Park.

From Yuyao, we went straight to the cultural park of another famous person among the four sages of Yuyao, Huang Zongxi, an important thinker, military strategist, and scholar in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. In Nanlei Town, Yuyao, next to Guanyin Temple, there is Huang Zongxi's Longhu Caotang and his family cemetery. Huang Zongxi's father, Huang Zunsu, was one of the seven gentlemen of the Donglin Party. Longhu Caotang was originally a thatched cottage built by Huang Zongxi when he was guarding his father's tomb. After Huang Zongxi failed to resist the Qing Dynasty in Siming Mountain, he hid here to live in seclusion, study, and teach students. At that time, Longhu Caotang was also a place that students in eastern Zhejiang yearned for. Behind the thatched cottage are the famous Longhu Peaks of Hua'an Mountain. After Huang Zongxi died, he was also buried here.

Ningbo Siming Mountain Shiziku Golden Larch Autumn Loop Trail.

In November, the golden larches on Siming Mountain in Yuyao, Ningbo, begin to change color. The colder the weather, the deeper the color. After reaching their peak beauty, the leaves fall to the ground, creating a golden carpet. Siming Mountain Town is located in the heart of Yuyao. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Liangnong Town at the foot of the mountain to the Shiziku of Lingxi. The name "Shiziku" comes from the intersection of two mountain ridges, one running north-south and the other east-west, forming a cross shape. Navigate to Lingxi Bus Station, park your car by the roadside, and walk into Shiziku. There are many coffee carts and small shops at the entrance, with tables and chairs for visitors to rest. The loop trail from Shiziku to Shuilian Cave and Yangtian Lake and back to Shiziku is about 12 km. Including the distance back to the parking lot, the total distance is about 14 km. The elevation gain is 340 m, and the difficulty is not high. However, there are many small stones and branches on the road, so it is recommended to use trekking poles for assistance. The Shiziku forest area and Yangtian Lake are two great places for photography, so it is recommended to spend more time there. This year, the weather turned cold late, and there were two major typhoons in October. The leaves were blown off before they could turn completely yellow, so the scenery is not as good as last year. Yangtian Lake has good facilities and beautiful red maple leaves. The best time to visit is around this week. If you don't want to hike, you can drive directly to the Yangtian Lake parking lot 🅿️. On weekends, there are many people and cars in the mountains, so parking spaces are hard to find. Search for "Juecha Ruowei" on the Two Steps app for the hiking route. The route was scouted on November 6.

On Saturday, November 9, I drove from Hangzhou to Ningbo for a hike. I highly recommend this route to hiking beginners and families with kids. The route can be long or short, with a lot of options. It's easy and scenic! There is also an observation deck and a swing along the way where you can enjoy the view of Siming Lake. ⛰️ Donggang Mountain Forest Park, Yuyao (a niche route) I recommend going counterclockwise, as the scenery is better in the first half. 💛 Small loop: 7 km (the best part) 💛 Large loop: 10 km (the large loop) 📍 Detailed address: Donggang Village, Yuyao / 500 meters up from Donggang Village [Scenery and road conditions along the way]: Ponds, golden larch forest, fir forest, bamboo forest, mountain ridges, asphalt roads, wooden observation decks, swings 💡: There are not many people on the road, just a few scattered groups.
