We are mobilizing the B Corp movement to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet. We won’t stop until all business is a force for good.
B Lab is the nonprofit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. It began in 2006 with the idea that a different kind of economy was not only possible, it was necessary – and that business could lead the way towards a new, stakeholder-driven model.
Today there are many B Labs across the globe (forming the B Global Network) including Australia, East Africa, mainland Europe and North and South America. All B Labs certify B Corporations, which are companies that meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
B Lab Europe was founded in 2013 and currently oversees the growth of the movement in Benelux, France, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Nordics, Spain, Switzerland, Emerging B Corp Markets and other countries across the continent. We mobilize the B Corp community in Europe towards collective action to address society’s most critical challenges and, in collaboration with the Global Network, we create standards, policies, tools, and programs that shift the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism.
Together, we are shifting our economic system from profiting only the few to benefiting all, from concentrating wealth and power to ensuring equity, from extraction to regeneration, and from prioritizing individualism to embracing interdependence.
Just like we expect Certified B Corporations to improve continually, B Lab Europe is constantly exploring how we need to evolve and adapt based on valuable stakeholder feedback, the rapidly changing business and political landscape, and the urgency of the social and environmental crises we are experiencing.
Our team consists of five main departments: Certification & Standards, Markets Development, Communications and Community Impact, and Operations.
Our community consists of companies of all sizes, industries and countries employing more than 750.000 workers. In Europe, we have over 3,600+ companies certified across the region.
