We are a global movement of people fighting for women’s rights, climate justice, economic justice, and an end to poverty
আমাদের সম্পর্কে
ActionAid Bangladesh always had a distinctive approach be it from the early days of simplicity to today’s complex nature of issues. ActionAid Bangladesh starting its journey from a very small with a minimalist approach today has become a relatively important player of the vibrant NGO movement that seeks to fight poverty in the country. ActionAid came to Bangladesh in 1983 to support an orphanage in Bhola named 'For Those Who Have Less' (locally known as 'Bittohin'). Today ActionAid is committed to changing the capacities of people and groups whose rights have been denied and violated in attaining justice and a life of dignity. Vision A just, equitable and sustainable world in which every person enjoys the right to a life of dignity, freedom from poverty and all forms of oppression. Mission To achieve social justice, gender equality, and poverty eradication by working with people living in poverty and exclusion, their communities, people’s organisations, activities, social movements and supporters.

Tuli and her younger brother grew up in the narrow alleys of a slum, where tin-roofed shacks stood like fragile skeletons against the sky. When she was only six, Tuli’s mother passed away leaving her and her brother in the care of their father — a man who despite his love for them, could do little to rise from poverty. Every morning before sunrise, their father would leave for work as a day labourer only to return late at night, sometimes with food while other times with nothing at all. Nights felt endless sometimes when due to lack of electricity they would be engulfed in complete darkness. Tuli longed for the warmth of a mother’s embrace, for a childhood where she didn’t have to wonder where the next meal would come from. She never went to school. Instead, she spent her days looking after her brother and sometimes collected scraps to earn money on the side. She watched other children going to school in their uniforms with books in hand and wondered if she would ever get the chance to sit in a classroom. Then, Happy Home found her. At first, she couldn’t believe such a place existed, where she could eat without worry, sleep without fear, and dream without limits. But the moment she stepped through the doors, she felt something she had never known before – a sense of belonging. She was given her first school uniform, her first notebook, her first taste of hope. She learned to read, to write, to imagine a life beyond the slum that once defined her. Today, Tuli is a bright, determined young girl who dreams of becoming a school teacher and help children like her. To make sure no child feels forgotten. She knows the pain of hunger, the weight of loneliness, the fear of an uncertain future. But now, she also knows the power of love, kindness and that of a second chance. Happy Home didn’t just give her a safe space. It gave her a life worth living. Join us in giving more children like Tuli the chance to dream and thrive. Your support can transform lives.
