𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝟭 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 – 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟱 🇧🇪 🇧🇷 The first day of the #BEmissionBRA in Rio de Janeiro opened with a seminar on enabling the energy transition: the role of ports and the importance of partnerships with industries & policy makers. This important seminar gathered around 200 guests at Casa Firjan. This day in Rio was also the “Impact Day” organised by hub.brussels at the Casa da Cultura Laura Alvim (Casa G20), the aim of this event is to promote a sustainable and inclusive economic transition by highlighting inspiring examples of collaboration in the social economy and impactful business. The lunch was the occasion to speak about the Amazon and to valorise the Brazilian local products such as honey 🍯 and cocoa 🥔. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the magnificent Arboretum of the Botanical Garden of Rio, it was the perfect opportunity for HRH Princess Astrid to take a photo of the trees planted by her great grand-parents during their visit to Brazil in 1920! During the late afternoon, an official meeting with HE Cláudio Bomfim de Castro e Silva, Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro was held at the Palácio Guanabara. This meeting was followed by the 2nd official Signing Ceremony of the mission where no less than 10 agreements were signed between Belgian and Brazilian companies and academic institutions. In the evening, HRH Princess Astrid and a restricted delegation had the privilege to enjoy a spectacular and unique light and sound projection by the Belgian companies Barco & Dirty Monitor on the famous Christ the Redeemer of Rio. This very special evening will remain engraved in the memories of all participants, who will return to Belgium with stars in their eyes. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝟭 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 – 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟰 🇧🇪 🇧🇷 In the morning of this 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 #BEmissionBRA 𝗶𝗻 𝗦ã𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗼, HRH Princess Astrid and the Belgian delegation visited the 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗦𝗣𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿. Puratos is a Belgian family business founded in 1919 that offers a full range of advanced services and ingredients to customers in the bakery, pastry and chocolate industries worldwide. Puratos has 35 years of experience in Brazil, the third largest bakery market in the world. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 '𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹' 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟮𝟬 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.   The traditional 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 took place at Fiesp - Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo and gathered around 60 people. Before the lunch, during a restricted meeting with the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗣, 𝗠𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗮, 𝗛𝗥𝗛 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗺 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹”.   In the afternoon, the whole delegation flew to Rio de Janeiro where the 2nd part of the mission will continue on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝟭 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 – 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟯 🇧🇪 🇧🇷 To kick-start the third day of the #BEmissionBRA, HRH Princess Astrid attended a 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 Fiesp - Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo); she was welcomed by Mr. Dan Ioschpe, Vice President of FIESP and Ms. Isabelle Grippa, CEO of hub.brussels. Afterwards, the delegation went to the Residence of the Belgian Consulate in São Paulo to attend an 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀. During her visit, HRH Princess Astrid could taste different delicacies made with the famous Belgian Conference pears and some Brazilian coffee from the Minas Gerais region. During this morning, HRH Princess Astrid was invited to Embraer offices in São Paulo. Mr. Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer and Mr. Yves Delatte, CEO of Sonaca welcomed the delegation and discussed the future of the 𝗮𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆. Embraer, the world's third-largest aviation company, is based in Brazil and operates in both civil and military aviation. Embraer has had a successful 30-year partnership with Belgian company Sonaca. The visit emphasised the importance of strengthening this collaboration, especially as sustainability and the energy transition become more significant. At 12:00, an hybrid high-level official meeting with 𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗸𝗺𝗶𝗻, 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹, took place at the hotel. After this busy morning, HRH Princess Astrid attended a leadership lunch on Brazil & Belgium: partners in building a low carbon hydrogen economy. In the afternoon, another important official meeting with 𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗰í𝘀𝗶𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀, Governor of the State of São Paulo, was held at the Palacio dos Bandeirantes where 3 very important agreements with Sao Paulo State were signed. The 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 took place in Sao Paulo, where no less than 26 agreements were signed between Belgian and Brazilian companies and academic institutions. This 3rd day ended with the 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and gathered approximately 700 guests at the beautifully decorated Casa Charlô. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝟭 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 – 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮 🇧🇪 🇧🇷 The 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 #BEmissionBRA started with the 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, organised by Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), VITO, the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) & Wagralim, the Agri-Food Innovation Cluster of Wallonia. This seminar was followed by a panel on the challenges of universal access to quality healthcare organised by the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX). HRH Princess Astrid had the opportunity to meet with an indigenous man from southern Brazil and received an indigenous collar. Afterwards HRH Princess Astrid went to the 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦ã𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗼 where she attended the 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 organised by hub.brussels. The keynote speech of Fabio Sala, CEO of AB InBev 𝗕𝗲𝗡𝗲𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗟𝘂𝘅, was followed by testimonials of three Brazilian success stories in Belgium. After the lunch, the whole delegation went to the 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗿𝗮𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 to get an overview of UCB’s Brazil’s commitment to epilepsy action and to listen to a presentation of the action against epilepsy in Brazil. Accessible quality healthcare features prominently during the Belgian economic mission to Brazil. In panel discussions, Belgian and Brazilian experts discuss how inequalities in Brazilian healthcare can be addressed. Belgian companies such as UCB and GSK contribute to this through innovative tools, vaccine technologies and doctor training in epilepsy. During the VIP visit to the children’s hospital, HRH Princess Astrid offered Smurfs figurines to a Bernardo, one of the little patients of the pediatric section, Papa Smurf and Smurfette also joined the visit for the delight of all the children! In the late afternoon, HRH Princess Astrid had the opportunity to meet with the 𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗖 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 during an event on port development and capacity building co-organised by FITA & APEC. The last activity of the day was a 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 organised by Fedustria, UNIZO and Voka - Kamer van Koophandel Vlaams-Brabant. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟮 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 - 𝟭 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 – 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭 🇧🇪 🇧🇷   On the first day of the #BEmissionBRA, HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium and the Belgian delegation visited 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹í𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦ã𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗼, focusing on sustainability and innovation. They highlighted two key projects: the Renova project, which has reduced CO2 emissions by 140,000 tons through a biomass boiler, and the Atlantis project, which saves 4.2 million m³ of water in a cooling system. The Paulínia site, one of the largest of its kind, has already achieved a 95% reduction in gas emissions. Solvay's efforts demonstrate how economic growth and sustainability can go hand in hand, showcasing Belgium's leadership in chemical innovation. The site also supports biodiversity initiatives, such as the Joaninha project, which educates children about ladybugs, and BeeRhodia, focused on preserving native species. During her visit, HRH Princess Astrid had the opportunity to meet and greet with children of the Joaninha (Ladybug) Project. The first day ended with the 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 with 2 special guests: Papa Smurf & Smurfette!  HE Peter Claes, Ambassador of Belgium in Brasilia, Valentine Mangez, Belgian Consul General in São Paulo, Caroline MOUCHART, Belgian Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, Claudia Rolim, Economic and Commercial Counselor at Flanders Investment and Trade (FIT), Rodrigo dos SANTOS A. GARCIA, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) and Dieter Poleyn, Economic and Commercial Counselor at hub.brussels welcomed the Belgian delegation in São Paulo. From 22 November to 1 December 2024, a Credendo delegation is participating in the Belgian Economic Mission to Brazil in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. As the largest economy in Latin America and one of the world’s food baskets, #Brazil is showing robust growth and demonstrates #resilience and potential in a complex global landscape. The development of its critical #mineral and rare earth reserves could position the country as a key player in the green economy.
