‼️ In its 2025 Work Programme the EU Commission acknowledges the potential of the #bioeconomy 🌱 to maintain EU's Industrial leadership and make our industries #resilient for the challenges of #climatechange🌪️, #biodiversity loss 🦋 and pollution. 🌫️ #Didyouknow that the #oleochemical industry is one of the oldest parts of the bio-based economy, utilising plant oils and animal rendered fats that replenish themselves in the natural biological cycle. 👉 The oleochemical industry makes valuable use of by-products from other industries such as food and meat processing and papermaking. Additionally, oleochemical products serve as additives – e.g. for paper applications – that enhance the recyclability of several products. 👉 Using high-volume plant oils🌾and side-streams from other industries and by enabling recycling for bio-based products, the oleochemistry is a crucial part of the Circular Economy. ♻️ #sustainability #EUIndustrialDeal #circulareconomy #biobased

📢 #EUDR Delayed ⏱️ After the vote in Plenary session on 17 December (where a big majority of the Parliament voted in favour of delaying EUDR), the Council of EU formally adopted the one-year postponement. Under the new timeline, large operators and traders will be required to comply with the regulation starting on 30 December 2025, while SMEs will have until 30 June 2026.    What is now the final step? 📑 The formal adoption by the Council was the final step in the ordinary legislative procedure. Now the regulation will be signed and published in the Official Journal of the EU, so that it can enter into force before the end of the year. https://lnkd.in/gZq7ywgR

❗❗Quick #EUDR update: Still no deal! Today’s trilogue negotiations on the latest EUDR amendments have ended without an agreement! Here’s where things stand: The Council of the EU has rejected Parliament’s push for a new country benchmarking category, sticking firmly to the Commission’s original proposal for a 1-year delay in EUDR implementation. What’s Next?⏳ The next trilogue is tentatively set for December 3rd, but with time running out, the pressure is on. 📢 Businesses urgently need answers and clear guidance to prepare for what’s coming. 📢 EUDR is not yet delayed! Despite many articles stating otherwise, the EUDR implementation date has not been officially delayed yet! Let's recap on what happened yesterday 👇 - The Parliament voted in favour to delay the full implementation of the EUDR by 12 months. - The EP also adopted other amendments proposed by the EPP, including the creation of a new “no risk” category for countries with stable or increasing forest areas (e.g. this means that these countries will face significantly less stringent requirements due to the negligible or non-existent risk of deforestation). So, what’s next? The Parliament has decided to refer this file back to the committee for interinstitutional negotiations (trilogues). For these changes to enter into force, the agreed text must be endorsed by both the Council and Parliament and published in the EU Official Journal. We urge policy makers to reach an agreement as soon as possible, providing industry the legal certainty (very much) needed at this stage. Watch this space for more updates.
