🔋 5 differences between EV and ICE coolants 🔋 As the world shifts towards electric mobility, thermal management plays a crucial role in EV performance and safety. But how do EV coolants differ from those used in traditional internal combustion engines (ICEs)? Here are five differences: 1️⃣ Adapting to rapid EV advancements EV technology evolves much faster than IC engines, requiring coolants to keep pace with new designs, materials, and thermal demands. 2️⃣ Low electrical conductivity ⚡ Unlike ICE coolants, EV coolants must have low electrical conductivity to prevent short circuits and reduce fire risk in case of leakage. 3️⃣ Different corrosion protection requirements EV cooling systems primarily consist of aluminium and copper, eliminating the need for corrosion inhibitors designed for iron, steel, or brass. 4️⃣ Greater need for temperature control Effective temperature management is essential to extend the lifespan of the battery and components—both while driving and during charging.
