📣 Important update on the nomenclature of Bone Status Indices (BSI) vs. bone turnover markers 🦴
📢 Excited to Announce the Latest Publication of the Joint International Osteoporosis Foundation Working Group and International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Committee on Bone Metabolism! Thrilled to share the release of our #position paper: "Guidelines for the Correct Use of the Nomenclature of Biochemical Indices of Bone Status", published in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM). 🔑 This updated guideline introduces the term #Bone Status Indices (BSIs) as a standardized framework for classifying molecules involved in bone health. By embracing structural components, regulatory molecules, enzymatic activities, and hormones, these guidelines aim to ensure consistency, clarity, and comparability across clinical and research settings. 💡 This work underscores the critical need for #standardization in #nomenclature, appellations, and #measurement units. We sincerely hope that this standardized framework will be universally adopted by researchers in future publications, fostering collaboration and progress in bone metabolism research. 🙏 A heartfelt thanks to all co-authors and contributors for their expertise and dedication to this vital initiative. Together, we strive to advance the understanding and management of bone-related conditions. 📄 Free Access the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ekGBvpnH #BoneHealth #Standardization #ClinicalChemistry #Osteoporosis #BoneStatusIndices #IOF #IFCC #ResearchImpact

"#Denosumab is safe and effective for long-term use, and, once started, likely should be continued indefinitely. ... It is rarely necessary to stop denosumab." Nelson Watts => insightfull commentary on a new small randomized trial, suggesting that sequential therapy with zoledronate does not fully prevent a decrease in lumbar spine BMD after denosumab discontinuation. https://lnkd.in/eNbjAzEy
