A clear message from Mathieu MICHEL about the EUROPEUM - EDIC (the successor of the #EBSI #blockchain project): “the true risk is doing nothing”. Bringing together 9 EU countries, #Europeum shows how Europe should take the lead on innovation and new technologies, whilst incorporating European values. Can’t wait for the acceleration of Europeum!

I’m excited to share that I’m one of the leaders in the working group of Blockchain4Belgium to promote the use of Web3, blockchain & digital assets technologies in our economy. We’re currently working on an initiative to advance the adoption of Web3, launched by the FPS Policy and Support (BOSA). The aim is to help grow the Web3 industry in Belgium by putting forward a list of concrete actions to facilitate the creation of a solid legal and regulatory framework for blockchain and crypto-assets in Belgium. This document will be a valuable resource for legal professionals, government officials, industry players, and regulators, providing guidance on key practical and legal questions as well as supporting the adoption of Web3 technologies. Afterwards, we’ll be organizing workshops to invite stakeholders across the Belgian landscape to gather feedback. If you’re interested in the results or want to get involved—especially if you’re from a government institution—please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Let’s work together to advance blockchain technology in Belgium! Join the ongoing work here https://lnkd.in/g-viiK6P Thanks to Jack Hamande, Christophe M., Nathanael Ackerman for taking the lead on this endeavour and Jean-Louis Lauwers and Fom LY for the collaboration! #Blockchain #Web3 #Blockchain4Belgium #Regulation #Digitalization

Now and then, people ask me, "Is the #blockchain4belgium initiative still active? Is anyone still working on it? ( or even When Lambo? 😎 )" The short answer: Yes, it's alive and kicking! The long answer: Not only is it alive, it's thriving! Sure, we’ve seen talented Web3 entrepreneurs like Tuur Demeester and Pieter Wuille leave Belgium, and when not abroad, the excitement seems to be happening more in other European countries (Lithuania is the most popular jurisdiction in Europe for Central Exchanges with 12 established companies, followed closely by 🇮🇹, 🇫🇷, 🇵🇱 or the 🇳🇱 ... but not 🇧🇪 ) Yet we recognize the urgency. 🌎, cryptocurrency adoption has skyrocketed from 100M users to 560M in just 3 years. By 2030, the asset tokenization market is expected to reach $10T, and decentralized finance (DeFi) is projected to hit $272B. 🇧🇪 must be part of this ecosystem, we cannot afford to miss a piece of the 🍰. That's why the B4B initiative ( join us on WhatsApp! https://lnkd.in/dr8Aq9qE ) has been on 🔥 lately. We have been at it and developed a comprehensive report that not only analyzes the market and blockchain landscape but also offers actionable recommendations for the 🇧🇪 government. In this report, we’ve crafted 80+ recommendations to strengthen Belgium's position in blockchain, grouped into thematic chapters with dedicated workgroups. The leads and workgroups are now reviewing and scoring these recommendations, prioritizing the must-haves to ensure policymakers focus on the most impactful changes. (Nothing like MosCoW right 😁) The next step? Quite soon! 🚀 We will be opening up the public consultation, where we invite interested parties to submit their own recommendations. A special thanks to the FPS BOSA team, Christophe M., Nathanael Ackerman , Jack Hamande and all the advisors who made this possible. Special shoutout to Fom LY, Florian Ernotte, Lorena Billi, Koen Vingerhoets, Bart Coelus and Willem De Clercq, Samy Carrere, some great inputs there 🙏 — #LFG and let's make history! #Blockchain #Web3 #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #Crypto #Blockchain4Belgium #Policy
