𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 🌈 If you know me, you know I love experimenting with colours - whether it’s for a new brand identity or just playing around with mood boards. But picking brand colours isn’t just about choosing your favourites (sorry, teal lovers). Colours speak. They evoke emotions, tell stories, and shape how people see your brand. 🔴 Red = bold. 🔵 Blue = trustworthy. 🟡 Yellow = happy. And the list goes on. One of my favourite parts of the process is creating mood boards. It's fun, but also strategic. It’s where colours come together to send the right message. Because here’s the thing: it’s not just art - it’s strategy. So, before you dive into the colour wheel, ask yourself: What do I want my brand to say? Because colours can make or break that connection with your audience. Need help? We’ve written a full guide to get you started. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲. 🌐 Ever wonder how a website goes from an idea 💡 to a fully functional, user-friendly experience? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at my process for designing a new website for a medical industry client, with a screenshot of the wireframes being transformed into designs. Here’s how it all comes together: 1️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳: First, I define goals and priorities together with the client. This is where the vision takes shape. 2️⃣ 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱: Next, I establish the visual direction with colours, imagery, and vibes that set the tone. 3️⃣ 𝗪𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 Figma : Time to map out the user journey! Every page gets a clear purpose so nothing feels cluttered or confusing. 4️⃣ 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗙𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀: This is where branding magic happens. Colours, typography, and imagery come together to build trust and professionalism. 5️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱: Finally, I bring it all to life in Webflow or WordPress! The site becomes visually stunning and responsive across devices. 📱💻 For medical websites, balancing aesthetics with functionality is key. Visitors need quick access to information without feeling overwhelmed. That’s why I focus on intuitive layouts, clear navigation, and cohesive visuals that reflect the client’s values. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 Figma If you’ve ever felt like you’re reinventing the wheel every time you design, it might be time to embrace reusable design systems. In Figma, this means creating components: design elements that can be reused, updated, and adapted across your entire project. 💡 What are components? In Figma, components are like “master” design elements. Think of them as templates for buttons, cards, or navigation bars. Once you create a component, you can use “instances” of it throughout your design. The magic? When you update the master component, all instances update automatically. Here’s why components are game-changers: 1️⃣ Save time: Instead of recreating buttons, headers, or icons for every page, you can create them once and reuse them anywhere. Need to tweak a colour or font? Update the component, and it changes everywhere it’s used. 2️⃣ Ensure consistency: Components keep your designs cohesive by using the same elements across all pages or platforms. No more mismatched buttons or inconsistent typography! 3️⃣ Make life easier for everyone: Whether you’re collaborating with other designers or handing off designs to developers, components simplify the process. Developers can easily identify reusable elements, speeding up implementation. Practical tips for getting started: - Start small: Create components for commonly used elements like buttons, headers, and icons. - Use naming conventions: Label your components clearly (e.g., “Button/Primary” or “Card/Default”) to keep things organised. - Build a library: If you work on multiple projects, consider creating a shared library in Figma so your components are accessible across teams. Have you tried using reusable components in your designs? If not, what’s holding you back? Drop your thoughts below! Or if you’re curious about how design systems could save time and elevate your brand’s consistency, let’s connect. This Supercell ad isn’t just another promo, it’s storytelling at its best. Unlike many celebrity endorsements that are just another boring, paid promo, this one hooks you from the first 5 seconds. And then it takes almost a minute to realise what the ad is even for, but with the clever pacing and humour, I’d have happily watched another minute. Nicely done, Ilkka! And seriously, why isn’t Gordon Ramsay yelling? Now I need to know. Smart, unexpected, and brilliantly executed - this is how you do celeb collabs.
