The EU’s Clean Industrial Deal is a strong and welcome step in positioning Europe as a leader in clean tech production. It sends the right signals for scaling up key #green technologies and reinforces Europe’s role in the global race for #sustainability. However, we must highlight a crucial gap—the deal overlooks the strategic role of advanced #manufacturing. Without integrating these technologies and processes, Europe risks falling behind in the very industries it aims to lead. To maintain our competitive edge, industrial policy must go beyond clean tech deployment and address the entire value chain—including the enabling technologies that drive this transition. Alongside other industry stakeholders, we have called for a European strategy on advanced manufacturing with a joint letter addressed to Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Mr. Stéphane Séjourné. This is essential to strengthening the EU’s industrial competitiveness and resilience on a global scale.
🌍 A strong economy, competitiveness, and a clean future — we're making it happen. With our #CleanIndustrialDeal, we’re accelerating the decarbonisation of our industry—making it sustainable, competitive, and ready for the future. To unlock the full potential of our rich industrial heritage, we are: ✅ Adopting a plan to lower energy bills for industries, businesses, and households ✅ Expanding clean energy and efficiency, cutting reliance on imported fossil fuels ✅ Boosting demand for EU-made clean products with the Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act ✅ Embedding sustainability, resilience, and #MadeInEurope criteria in public and private procurement ✅ Prioritising critical raw materials and circularity—targeting 24% circular materials by 2030 ✅ Investing in workers through a Union of Skills, creating quality jobs and developing talent We’ll mobilise over €100 billion in the short term. The future is clean. The future is competitive. The future is now. europa.eu/!4mBqfX #EuropeanUnion
