Achieving a circular economy requires significant innovation and a variety of recycling solutions. Chemical recycling, complementary to mechanical and physical recycling, will play a key role in this transition. 🔁 🎤 Speaking at ACI's Future of Chemical Recycling Europe 2025, during the panel discussion "From Waste to Wealth – Investing in Chemical Recycling," Cefic Innovation Director, Annick Meerschman emphasised the importance of further developments and scaling chemical recycling while ensuring solid business cases can be built, allowing investments in Europe. 👥 A strong enabling policy framework will be key to accelerating the transition. The voices of nearly 1,300 industry leaders, united through the Antwerp Declaration 📜, have not only been heard but are now being acted upon. As we take steps to enhance competitiveness, we must accelerate the pace. "It is ten past twelve," said Marco Mensink, Director General of Cefic. "Our industry is beyond the breaking point 🚨. For the sake of our industry and the 1.2 million workers it directly employs, we need urgent action and affordable energy. We are keen to see the next steps for the Chemicals Industry Package. Let’s bring back clarity, predictability, and confidence in Europe and its industrial policy, and above all, investments in Europe."
