Supporting Volunteering in Europe since 1992
About us
The Centre for European Volunteering (CEV) (until 1 July 2020 known as the European Volunteer Centre), established in 1992, is the European network of over 60 organisations dedicated to the promotion of, and support to, volunteers and volunteering in Europe at European, national or regional level. Through our network we aim to be the leading voice in the values-based volunteering debate in Europe, influencing and sharing the current trends & challenges and those predicted for the future, developing and providing policy advice and expertise for European Policymakers so that volunteering policies and programmes developed at European level are effective and fit for purpose. Network members are also supported to further their own objectives at national/regional & European level by the protection and support for a free and enabling civil society space, advocating for suitable European funding support, and by developing supportive policy statements at the European level on pertinent volunteering issues. In this way, reaching out to the many thousands of volunteers and volunteer organisations in Europe as a source of support in bringing the European dimension to their work. CEV channels the collective priorities and concerns of its member organisations to the institutions of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Together with other stakeholders we exchange policy, practice and information in order to ensure effective and coherent follow up to European Year of Volunteering 2011 and ensure its legacy through the implementation of the Policy Agenda for Volunteering in Europe (PAVE) and the follow-up “Helping Hands – Hope for Europe” report. CEV’s vision is a Europe in which volunteers are central in building a cohesive, sustainable and inclusive society based on solidarity and active citizenship. CEV is a European network of organizations dedicated to the promotion of and support to volunteers and volunteering. Our mission is to provide collaborative lea

Järjestöpäällikkömme Marjo Salmela osallistui CEV-Centre for European Volunteering konferenssiin Brysselissä viime viikolla ja huomasi, että Euroopassa laajemminkin on sisäistetty Kansalaisareenan käsitys vapaaehtoistoiminnan merkittävästä roolista tulevaisuuden määrittäjänä.

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the CEV Autumn Volunteering Congress 2024 in Brussels, a remarkable gathering that brought together over 140 participants from from different volunteer organizations, volunteer centers, national agencies, muncipalities, sport events and clubs across Europe. The discussions focused on how volunteer engagement can tackle global challenges, reduce loneliness and isolation, and strengthen community resilience—all while promoting core EU values through youth and civic participation. From: 👉exploring the future role of volunteer centers in Europe, 👉through emphasized service-learning as a tool to foster civic engagement, diversity, and social inclusion in primary schools—showcasing how young people can be empowered to lead change from an early age. 👉to addressing loneliness through volunteering initiatives. The energy and dedication of everyone involved reminded me of the unique role volunteering plays in addressing some of our most pressing challenges. It’s not just about giving time; 💫it’s about building bridges; 💫strengthening values, and 💫creating lasting change Thank you Team CEV-Centre for European Volunteering ( Kristijan Gjorgjieski Tenna Sørensen Gabriella Civico Miriah Conte and the rest of the team) for this especially dear to me, photo :) To many more photos:) and collaborations while paving and navigating the path of volunteering in Europe🎉 #CEVcongress2024 #volunteering #youthengagement #socialimpact #communityresilience #ErasmusPlus

I had the privilege of attending CEV's event in Brussels, "Strengthening and Protecting Volunteers and Volunteering in Times of Crisis." The event was even more special as I joined a group of six participants from the Erasmus+ mobility of CSVnet. Together, we engaged in inspiring discussions on supporting volunteers and strengthening their impact during challenging times. Grateful to CEV for this opportunity to connect and share ideas for building stronger, more inclusive communities through volunteering. 💪 #Volunteering #CEV #ErasmusPlus #CSVnet #Solidarity #CommunityEngagement
