The Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) is a non-profit organisation seeking to improve and promote a high standard among informatics professionals in recognition of the impact that Informatics has on employment, business and society. CEPIS represents 31 Member Societies in 30 countries across greater Europe. Our mission is to work towards ensuring a mature, recognised IT profession, to grow the pool of future IT professionals, to promote digital competence for the workforce, and to advocate for a socially responsible, secure, ethical, inclusive and environmentally friendly application of IT in Europe.

  • 🌍 Day 2 at ICODSIP – Inspiring Conversations and Collaborative Energy! 🌍 We kicked off Day 2 with a networking session in the Salón de Grados, diving into innovative ideas and valuable proposals around EU funding programmes. The enthusiasm from yesterday’s opening day was matched by insightful presentations on digital skills frameworks and initiatives from across the globe. Highlights from Track 2 sessions: ✅ Reboot Skills explored co-designing strategies to align digital skills with job market demands. ✅ Botswana’s ambitious steps with a new Digital Competence Framework. ✅ The SME Digital Maturity accelerator programme, fostering growth through partnerships with the University of Botswana Innovation Centre. ✅ An in-depth look at EU digital skills evaluation and a cross-country literacy comparison with https://lnkd.in/eRGxmWnP. After a refreshing coffee break, we gathered for a compelling panel on Female Talent in IT, moderated by Raquel Lacuesta, featuring Alena Kanabová, Covadonga Rodrigo, and Begonia Vazquez Merayo, who shared inspiring insights on empowering women in tech. Our final project presentations provided a global perspective, from EdTech Talents to tailored digital skills initiatives for refugees in Germany, supporting employability and integration.     📢 Exciting news! Yesterday, the European Commission announced over 100 companies as the first signatories of the EU AI Pact, marking a significant step forward in responsible AI development across Europe! 🇪🇺🤖 Signatories include multinational corporations and innovative SMEs in diverse sectors like IT, healthcare, automotive, banking, and more. By joining the Pact, these companies are making voluntary commitments to uphold the principles of the upcoming AI Act ahead of its official implementation, ensuring a proactive and responsible approach to AI governance. Core commitments: 1️⃣ Developing an AI governance strategy to align with the AI Act. 2️⃣ Mapping high-risk AI systems within their operations. 3️⃣ Promoting AI literacy and ethical development among employees. 💡 Beyond these commitments, over half of the signatories have taken additional pledges around human oversight, risk mitigation, and transparency, including clear labeling of AI-generated content like deepfakes.     1st International Conference on Digital Skills and IT Professionalism (ICODSIP): Call for project presentations (and for papers) The conference will be hosted by Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Spain, on 14 and 15 November 2024. It is co-organised by CEPIS and the Asociación de Técnicos de Informática and hosted by Escuela Politécnica Superior, Universidad de Alcalá. https://lnkd.in/gQkrTw97 The ICODSIP conference will offer a space for the presentation of European funded projects related to the two tracks of the Call for Papers: 'E-Competences and IT Professionalism' and 'Digital Competence and Skills'. A specific section of the programme will allow representatives of partners of the project to make a presentation of main results and achievements of the project, thus benefiting their dissemination while allowing attendees of ICODSIP to get updated information of results and good practices in projects. This section is mainly devoted to EU-funded projects, given their impact in the community of practitioners in the topics of the conference, but it is also open to other international projects or even national ones with relevant applicability to other contexts. The presentation will be planned for 15 minutes, with 5 minutes for questions and comments.
