Co-developing and scaling up at farm scale systemic, locally relevant and cost-effective agronomic solutions to foster climate-neutral and climate-resilient farms is one of the most fascinating pathways to knowledge expansion, nurturing personal growth, and exploring realms beyond the theory. Yesterday we have started a long awaited journey in two lead commercial farms of ClieNFarms project: the first industrial tomato under strip tillage on silty clay soils of Po valley ! 🌱 📢 ClieNFarms Update: I3S Organic Dairy in Germany 🐄 The EU-funded #ClieNFarms project has completed its first climate footprint assessments for eleven organic dairy farms supplying Upländer Bauernmolkerei in Hessen, Germany. During an event at Biohof Emden, we shared key findings using the CoolFarmTool: 🥛 Emissions per kilogram of milk: Average of 1.06 kg CO₂ equivalent across participating farms (high-input farms: 0.93; low-input farms: 1.23). 🌾 Emissions per hectare: High-input farms average 7,800 kg CO₂, while low-input farms demonstrate lower emissions at 6,000 kg CO₂ per hectare. The event also featured a farm walk led by Bioland, exploring alfalfa, clover-grass, and mixed grasslands, highlighting sustainable practices in action. Our team is committed to refining tools that capture organic systems' complexities - nutrient cycling, biodiversity, and soil health. 📢 The #ClieNFarms project held its second policy workshop, focusing on "How can the EU agricultural sector contribute to climate neutrality?". Experts, farmers, policymakers, and organizations came together to discuss agriculture’s role in achieving climate goals. 📢🌱On November 20th, the #ClieNFarms project attended GO WIDE in Portugal! This event, organised by Agroglobal WIDE, brought together a wide range of stakeholders involved in innovation projects in the agricultural, food and forestry sectors. 🌍🤝A day full of activities, including panel discussions and lots of networking, which helped to leverage the innovative solutions developed by the projects, maximising the impact of the innovation projects.
