Did you know that agricultural innovation is a powerful part of improving crop resilience? Modern techniques combine cutting-edge technology with nature to safeguard food crops against pests while reducing environmental impact. For example… 🛰️ Did you know that drones and AI are now being used to monitor fields in real time, spotting pest outbreaks early so farmers can act quickly and precisely? 🐞 Or that some farmers release beneficial insects, like ladybirds, to naturally control harmful pests like aphids? 🧬 Or that gene editing helps breeders develop plants that better resist disease and adverse climates? 🍅 Or that clever intercropping, such as planting marigolds near tomatoes, can repel harmful insects? By blending traditional farm practices with advanced science and innovation, we can ensure a sustainable future for everyone. Crop protection is the backbone of sustainable agriculture. By addressing pests, diseases and soil health head-on, we can boost global food production and strengthen food security. How? For example, through Integrated Pest Management (IPM). By combining prevention, monitoring and targeted interventions, it: 🪲 Prevents the build-up of pests. 🔍 Monitors crops for insects, diseases and weeds to determine if and which intervention is necessary. 🐞 Utilizes physical, biological and chemical methods to preserve crops. Integrating science-based agricultural tools through IPM helps sustainably control pests while maximizing production, contributing to food security. The key to food security lies in adapting farming methods to the changing climate. By empowering farmers to grow more food through optimized resource use, new innovations are helping to feed a growing population. Simultaneously, they can mitigate and manage the effects of climate change on our food supply. Here’s how: 🌱 Precision agriculture: GPS technology, diagnostic apps, drones, precision applications and data analytics boost yields by optimizing inputs like water and pesticides with pinpoint accuracy. 🌾 Climate-resilient crops: Gene-editing techniques create plants that resist drought, heat, pests and diseases, helping them thrive in challenging climates. 🚜 Autonomous vehicles: Robotic tractors and harvesters automate planting, weeding and harvesting to increase efficiency. 💧 Water efficiency: Smart irrigation systems ensure every drop of water counts, crucial in drought-prone regions. Solutions like these are at the heart of securing a sustainable food future for all. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gBGj3fUV #FoodSecurity #SideWithFoodSecurity #PickASide

Are you reading this over a cup of coffee? Consider this: #coffee is a high value commodity, grown in 75 countries around the world. The economic benefits to the growers and those adding value later in the supply chain depends on the smooth operation of global green coffee trade flows. This is where #Codex comes in, harmonizing regulations amongst trading partners by providing a science-based reference for standard setting. Bryant Christie Inc., has taken a deep dive into how Codex underpins the economics, safety and security of the coffee trade – hear from their Executive Vice President Eric Rosenberg here: https://lnkd.in/eQ2Meij8 Enjoy the coffee break!

As CropLife International's President and CEO Emily Rees notes, "This is the clearest of signals that upholding free-trade agreements delivers the stability needed for innovation to flourish and to anchor our food security. I applaud the U.S. and Canadian Governments for taking steps to ensure that the commitments and obligations under free-trade agreements are upheld and look forward to a resumption of access for all parties to the agricultural innovations so crucial to lives and livelihoods alike.” CropLife International, the trade association representing the plant science industry, today voiced its support for the outcome of the United States-Mexico-Canada free-trade agreement (USMCA) dispute settlement process in which Mexico is formally requested to repeal its Decree prohibiting the use or import of GM corn.
