🌍In September 2024, at the annual congress #EUROCORR2024 of the EFC - European Federation of Corrosion (EFC), Iris De Graeve announced the formation of a new "Task Force" within the EFC, focused on the Corrosion Performance of Additively Manufactured Metals. 🔍 Chaired by Iris De Graeve and co-chaired by Reynier Revilla, both Principal Investigators of the DurAMat Project, this Task Force aims to unite international researchers working within the EFC community on key topics such as #metaladditivemanufacturing (MAM), #corrosionmechanisms, AM #metalprocessing, and #corrosionprotection or mitigation techniques. These areas encompass surface treatments, heat treatments, and other methods. 📈As MAM continues to expand across various industrial sectors—including #biomedical, #aerospace, #marine, #automotive, #energy, and #construction —the target audience for this "Task Force" is broad and diverse. Given the strong alignment between the Task Force's mission and DurAMat Project's objectives, goals and structure were presented during the introduction, drawing significant attention from the EUROCORR audience. 🏆 The DurAMat Project is proud to be at the forefront of this initiative, fostering collaboration and innovation to enhance the understanding and application. 🤝Let's work together to advance the field of corrosion in additively manufactured metals!

🌟 Welcoming Wang Chen to the DurAMat Project! 🌟 We are excited to introduce Wang Chen, who has recently joined the DurAMat project as a Doctoral Candidate! Originally from Shanghai, China, Wang brings a diverse and impressive educational background, with expertise in metallurgy from Shanghai University, as well as a Master of Philosophy degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Aberystwyth in the UK. Wang’s research experience shines in the area of computational simulation of liquid foam structures, and he also gained hands-on industry experience working as a stamping die structure design engineer at an automotive parts manufacturer. Now, as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie DurAMat project, Wang is pursuing his PhD at the University of Warwick in the UK. His research aims to develop an atomic information-based predictive model for crack propagation in AM metals under cyclic loading, a key component for advancing materials science. We are thrilled to have Wang on board and are excited to see the contributions he will bring to DurAMat! 👉 Learn more about our researchers: https://lnkd.in/eXhbgm6A
