🎬 Why bring soil health into the classroom? #WhyITeachSoil Petra van Haren, MBA-ME (European School Heads Association (ESHA)) shares her vision: "Soil is a living entity that we interact with daily, through our feet, hands and minds, yet we often take it for granted and that needs to change." Petra highlights how soil education connects to history, geography and biology, exploring topics like archaeology, diverse soils and environmental impacts of climate change. Integrating soil into curricula fosters interdisciplinary learning, touching on literacy, numeracy, and biology while building partnerships through open schooling. During #MissionSoilWeek in #Brussels, the question "What does soil mean to you?" sparked thought-provoking reflections, brought to life by artist Blanche Illustrates through a vibrant visual display. The event showcased key developments in the soil health: ✅50 research projects driving innovation in soil health ✅25 Living Labs established to test and promote new solutions ✅Progress in establishing a harmonized soil monitoring system across the EU ✅Active Soil Ambassadors inspiring widespread change This annual gathering brought together the European soil community to address soil health challenges and explore potential solutions.
