Pro-active information sharing within a network of trust

About us

The European Energy - Information Sharing & Analysis Centre (EE-ISAC) is an industry-driven, information sharing network of trust. The Association includes both private parties (utilities and solution providers) and (semi) public organizations (technical universities, governmental and non-profit organizations). EE-ISAC enables the European utility industry to: - Benefit from an open dialogue with industry partners and suppliers - Share both real-time data & analysis within small scale trust-circles - Learn from their peer's experiences with grid security incidents & breaches - Evaluate security solutions from both a technical & operational viewpoint - Set up pilots and experience with M2M data sharing platforms

  • 📢 EE-ISAC contributing to a debate about the new cybersecurity legal regime in Portugal Aurelio Blanquet, EE-ISAC Secretary General, was honoured to participate at the conference “O novo regime jurídico da Cibersegurança em Portugal”, organized in Lisbon to discuss the impact of the new cybersecurity legal regime in Portugal, aligned with #NIS2 Directive. EE-ISAC was invited to discuss the challenges of sharing security information and organizations' concerns about legal protection, reputation and potential liabilities. Main takeaways: 👉 The world is connected, organizations are highly interdependent, and cybersecurity is not a game to play alone. 👉 A timely and efficient Information Sharing and responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities, events and incidents are essential pillars for cyber resilience beyond NIS2. 👉 Early warnings and a network of trust can play a relevant role in preventing cyber-events from evolving into relevant cybersecurity incidents that falls into the compliance obligations of formal reporting and coordination mechanisms as defined in the NIS2. 👉 Take advantage of the complementary cooperation networks of sectorial ISACs, CSIRT teams and competent national authorities to share information in a structured way and within a legal protection framework. 👉 Use secure platforms for exchanging information, such as EU-certified systems. Information Sharing is vital to raise the cyber awareness and take effective cybersecurity actions, and the EE-ISAC is the trusted community of cyber-energy representatives where trust between partners plays the decisive role that guarantee a fast, effective and responsible disclosure of sensitive cyber information. 👏 Congratulations to the organizers for this great conference and to João Annes as the event's curator for the excellent program, and our thanks for the invitation to contribute to the debate.

  • ❗ Breaking news for the cybersecurity community: the Council approved conclusions recognizing European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) as a cornerstone of Europe's cybersecurity ecosystem. We’re excited to celebrate the recent milestone for one of our founding members, ENISA! This announcement underscores the agency's vital role in supporting EU member countries with new cybersecurity legislation. Through its strong collaboration with the European Commission, ENISA drives shared situational awareness and helps ensure that all stakeholders in the cybersecurity sector are aligned. 🔐 At EE-ISAC, we are proud of our partnership with ENISA and our progress together. We will continue working alongside the Agency to expand the sharing of system information and knowledge, contributing to important legislative initiatives like #NIS2 and #CRA. A huge thank you to ENISA for its continued dedication to building a secure and resilient cyberspace for all! The CRA is a regulation, meaning it applies directly and uniformly without the need for transposition into national law, unlike the NIS2 directive. You might ask a very valid question: why wasn't NIS2 issued as a regulation? I've had numerous discussions with stakeholders on this topic, and the reasoning often centers on the need for flexibility and respect for sovereignty. However, this approach seems to be backfiring, as many member states are slow-walking the transposition process, and missing deadlines. It remains unclear to me what concrete penalties a state faces for failing to transpose a directive, beyond the occasional 'stern' warning by ENISA.

The Cyber Resilience Act is now officially published in the #OJEU as Regulation (EU) 2024/2847. #CRA Fully applicable December 11, 2027 with reporting obligations applicable from September 11, 2026.

🎉 EE-ISAC & CIPRE | Our session at Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience Europe was a success! We’re incredibly grateful to have had such an engaging discussion on “How to fortify European Energy grids to face the current Cyberthreat scenario” moderated by EE-ISAC Secretary General Aurelio Blanquet Technology is not enough, process design is a must, training and skilling people is critical but cooperation & information sharing are KEY to successfully face the cyber threat challenge. 👉 Cybersecurity is not a game to play alone, and EE-ISAC is the trusted community of energy stakeholders creating a trustful environment for a trusted information sharing on cybersecurity incidents, vulnerabilities and knowledge. We counted with full audience and with a unique and diversified panel of speakers: Felipe C. (European Commission), Javier Simón (Iberdrola), Simon G. (Forescout Technologies Inc.), and Thomas Krauhausen (E.ON - Board Member of EE-ISAC). Unfortunately, we missed Annika Wägenbauer (Institute for Security and Safety GmbH at the UAS Mannheim) who was not able to attend due to health issues. We hope you a quick and full recovery, Annika! 💐 A heartfelt thank you to the CIPRE organizers for inviting our association to participate once again. It’s an honor to be part of such a forward-looking event!
