EFNMS European Federation of National Maintenance Societies-ETC Workshop at EuroMaintenance 2024 – A Deep Dive into the Future of Maintenance Education. The EFNMS-ETC (European Training Commitee) workshop at Euromaintenance 2024 in Rimini Italy provided a engaging and informative platform for in-depth discussions on the future of Maintenance education and Asset Management. With participation from key representatives of the EFNMS European Certification Committee (ECC) and the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM), the workshop addressed several pressing issues that will shape the industry in the coming decade. The exchange of ideas and expertise was invaluable, offering new perspectives on the challenges we face as an industry and the opportunities ahead. A key focus of the workshop was the evolving landscape of maintenance and asset management over the next decade. Participants explored the demographic shifts within the EU and beyond, emphasizing the aging workforce and the urgent need to attract younger professionals to the field. The discussion also covered the necessity of adapting maintenance education to the digital era and Industry 5.0 timeframe, where there is a growing demand for new learning tools and methods that can effectively address the knowledge gaps left by traditional approaches. It became clear that technological advancements will play a crucial role in reshaping education, but there remains much work to be done to ensure that these innovations are integrated effectively. In addition to these themes, the workshop examined how maintenance qualifications are understood and applied across Europe. The role of core degrees and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) was discussed, with an emphasis on harmonizing education and certification to create a more unified understanding of professional standards across the continent. The presentation from the EFNMS European Certification Committee (ECC) underscored the importance of standardized certification as a means of ensuring both quality and consistency in maintenance qualifications throughout Europe. The workshop concluded with a robust discussion on the key issues that attendees face in their respective fields of maintenance training and education. Many participants shared insights into the difficulties of adapting to rapidly changing technological and demographic realities, and the need for targeted support to address these challenges. The collaborative nature of this discussion highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between industry stakeholders to ensure that maintenance education continues to evolve in response to both current and future demands. Great session presented and guided by the ETC team Tomas Hladik, Bohuslav Peterka, Petri Saarinen and Jan Stoker. Looking foreward to our next session with the ETC team #efnms #education #sustainability
