💧 2024 Hydrogen Week: Building the Future Together! At Hydrogen Week 2024, organised by Hydrogen Europe, ENTSO-E’s Secretary-General Sonya Twohig joined the panel discussion "After the EU power grid action plan, time for a hydrogen grid strategy?". Sonya spoke about the role of hydrogen in Europe’s energy transition, highlighting its potential to enhance grid flexibility, reduce renewable curtailment, and support decarbonisation. She emphasised the importance of sector coupling to integrate renewables across electricity, gas, and hydrogen systems for a cost-efficient, sustainable energy transition. The session focused on collaboration, innovation, and addressing key challenges to build a hydrogen backbone by 2030, aligning efforts across energy sectors. Today ENTSO-E has launched the Winter-outlook 2024-2025 report.  This report highlights the overall positive adequacy situation in Europe for the upcoming winter.  Key take-aways from this report are:  ⚡Electricity generation capacity has further expanded while planned outage levels of thermal power plants are comparable to last winter.   🔋 Favourable conditions for pan-European electricity generation adequacy due to combined factors: electricity generation capacity has further expanded, reservoir levels for hydropower are higher than average and the electricity demand is projected to slightly decrease.   🔌 An overall positive adequacy situation in Europe for the upcoming winter with some risks in particular areas.  💡 The gas storage level is high compared to the previous years, reaching 94% on 1 October 2024, much higher than the European target of 90% by 1 November.   European TSOs will continue to monitor the adequacy situation throughout the winter period.   🔗 Read the full report here. https://lnkd.in/dis3Uv7

🌍 Strengthening Engagement for Europe’s Energy Transition At the PCI Energy Days, TSOs across Europe came together to sign a Pact for Engagement—a commitment to early and meaningful stakeholder involvement in grid development. This pact, part of the EU’s Action Plan for Grids, unites Member States, regulators, DSOs, project promoters, and civil society with a shared mission to: 1) Highlight the Essential Role of Grids in the energy transition. 2) Streamline Permitting Processes for faster project delivery. 3) Accelerate Key Projects through regional cooperation. 4) Ensure Regulatory Support for community engagement. ENTSO-E is proud to have facilitated this significant step, strengthening collaboration among TSOs and stakeholders across Europe. By fostering this united approach, ENTSO-E is helping to drive the resilient, decarbonised grid Europe needs to support a sustainable energy future. 🌱🔋⚡

🔊 European TSOs Boost Electricity Exports to Ukraine and Moldova for Winter 🌍 Continental Europe's Transmission System Operators (TSOs) have raised electricity export capacity to Ukraine and Moldova by 400 MW, reaching 2,100 MW, effective 1 December. This increase follows extensive power system assessments to support Ukraine and Moldova through anticipated winter shortages, while ensuring system stability and security.
