[ #SUSTAINABILITY ] Climate change presents a significant global challenge, demanding urgent action to create a net-zero future. #Composites are at the forefront of this transition, offering durable, lightweight and adaptable solutions essential for #decarbonisation. 🎯 The role of composites in reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency and supporting the growth of green technologies makes them indispensable in achieving the EU’s #GreenDeal, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050. ✔️ Composite materials play a pivotal role in multiple industries, from enabling more fuel-efficient electric and hydrogen #vehicles, to facilitating the development of large-scale renewable #energy infrastructure and sustainable #construction. Their unique combination of light weight, strength and resilience enables the creation of longer-lasting, more efficient products that reduce carbon emissions. ✔️ A robust and sustainable composites #supplychain is therefore essential for Europe’s long-term environmental and economic success. Supporting this supply chain will not only contribute to environmental sustainability but will also strengthen Europe’s position as a leader in the global transition to a #netzero economy. Composites are not just a solution — they are THE #solution to achieve a net-zero future. [ REVIEW OF 2024 ] We'd like to thank our members, partners, industry colleagues and the wider #composites community for your continued collaboration and support this year. 👏👏 ✍ It’s been a busy and productive year for EuCIA. We’ve welcomed new members, forged new partnerships, and strengthened existing collaborations. Our Sustainability Working Group has been highly active in defining our #circularity roadmap and developing an extensive background document to demonstrate the #sustainability and circularity of composite materials. We participated in a major #LCA study showing that cement reprocessing is a sustainable solution for end-of-life composites. We’ve been actively communicating our vision for composites circularity. We’ve launched initiatives to promote a supply chain for managing end-of-use composites, and we’ve joined with our members and industry partners to recommend policy amendments to enable this. We are now a partner in three EU-funded projects developing sustainable composites technologies for the future, soon to be joined by a fourth. 🎉 CELEBRATING 65 YEARS 🎉 2025 will be a very special year for EuCIA. We’ll be celebrating 65 years of supporting the European composites industry. 🍃 From the very beginning sustainability has been at the heart of our initiatives. We will continue to promote the sustainability of composite materials and their essential role in #decarbonisation and achieving net-zero targets. We will accelerate our efforts to demonstrate that composites are truly circular materials and support the development of the supply chain to enable their sustainable #reuse and #recycling. Recognising that this requires the collaboration of all stakeholders, we will launch a Circular Composites #Alliance to strengthen and expand our efforts at EU level. We invite you to join us! Let’s take the next steps together in our journey towards a sustainable, circular future for our composites industry. 🎄Happy Holidays and we look forward to meeting you again in 2025! -- The EuCIA team -- ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g3RiEdnS #compositematerials #europe #EuCIA #associations REFRESH project EU EOLIAN project EU #Maxblade
