Michael shared valuable insights on the impact of new legislation, including the Energy Efficiency Directive (#EED), and the advancements in sustainable IT cooling technologies that are paving the way for Europe’s journey toward #netzero. The session was insightful, highlighting key strategies to enhance the #sustainability and efficiency of the #datacentre industry. The European Commission is actively working to make cloud computing and #datacentres more #energyefficient and sustainable. This means focusing on energy efficient operations, renewable energy integration, and innovative ways to #reusewaste energy like heat. Key initiatives shaping this transition include: • The Ecodesign Regulation for energy-efficient servers and data storage.  • The EU Taxonomy Regulation, setting sustainability standards for investments.  • Funding opportunities through Horizon Europe and other EU programs to foster green innovation.    The goal? Become carbon-neutral by 2030. Data centres are at the heart of Europe’s digital economy, and their transformation is important to meeting the #sustainability goals.
