As part of the Research Matters campaign, this event offers a platform for discussing the vital importance of investing in research and innovation in a way of addressing current and future geopolitical and societal challenges. They have updated an old academic ritual with innovative public speaking training that meets the challenges of fake news, hate speech and discrimination in public discourse. The campaign's aim is to call for significant increase in funding for research and innovation in Europe -open letter published on 4 June 2024 #EUPRIO - European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education#EUPRIO - European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education#EUPRIO - European Association of Communication Professionals in Higher Education is hosting the Research Matters campaign which is an initiative dedicated to mobilizing and uniting the European research and innovation community. The Research Matters campaign seeks to reach decision-makers, stakeholders across various sectors, media, and citizens at local, national, and European levels. It is a collaboration between European universities, research organizations, funding agencies, industry partners, and communication professionals across Europe. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the crucial role research plays in shaping our future and addressing global challenges, and advocate for increased investment in research and innovation. The initiative calls for: - Increased funding for R&D and over 3% of GDP in EU and all European countries; - Doubling the budget for FP10, and protecting that budget by ring-fencing it.
