A first in the cash cycle ecosystem: this week, the presidents of ESTA, Guillaume Nonain, of International Currency Association, Etienne Couelle , and of EURICPA, Patrice Rullier, came together for a constructive meeting to discuss how to better collaborate to defend and promote cash. It was an inspiring exchange that reaffirmed the shared commitment of the three associations and their members to ensure cash remains accessible and valued. 2025 holds exciting opportunities to strengthen these efforts, with key industry events and initiatives on the horizon. Stay tuned for more updates as we work together to highlight the critical role of cash in our societies. #Cash#Team#Cooperation#Partnership#PaymentChoice#Advocacy

Promoting cash degradation technology throughout Europe
About us
Founded in April 2005 and based in Brussels, EURICPA brings together leading European manufacturers of intelligent solutions for secure cash transportation and storage. The association includes companies that develop neutralisation technologies using indelible dye, which have been widely used in European markets for 25 years and have proven effective in protecting cash and people, while contributing to crime reduction. It also includes various stakeholders interested in the security of valuables and cash transportation, such as universities, educational institutions, governments, public laboratories, and non-profit organisations, allowing them to benefit from the association’s expertise and global activities. EURICPA works with the European Institutions, national authorities and several organizations to promote our technology as the best secure and safest solutions for cash-in-transit in Europe. IBNS technology provides flexible solutions that are perfectly adapted to the crossborder transport of cash. EURICPA ensures alternative technologies are introduced with stringent mutually recognized technical requirements, enabling easy deployment throughout Europe. Many EURICPA Members work with the best laboratories in Europe for homologation tests. EURICPA is a stakeholder of the European Central Bank on the design of future Euro banknotes currently under discussion.

💶💰 An important step in the fight against bank robberies: the NFI (Nederlands Forensisch Instituut) has established a comprehensive database for security ink. This ink, which is released on banknotes and sometimes also on the clothes and skin of the perpetrators in the event of an explosion, plays a crucial role in the investigation of ATM robberies. In the past five years, over 100 million in cash was captured in ATMs in Germany, mostly committed by Dutch nationals. Since 2022, the large number of ATMs caused a ten-fold increase in the number of ink investigations at the NFI. This allowed our experts to expand their expertise and collected all the data to create a brand new database. Peter Zoon, expert Microspores & Materials at the NFI, stresses the importance of this development: ‘After our successful glass database, we now have another reliable source to support police and judiciary in investigations into ATM robberies, both nationally and internationally.’ Ink on banknotes and clothing can link suspects to specific crimes thanks to its unique chemical properties, including microscopic markers: so-called ‘taggants’. Cooperation between the NFI's Chemical Identification Research, Non-Human Biological Traces and Microspores and Materials research areas ensures that all aspects of the ink can be accurately analysed. With the new database, the spread of notes stained with security ink can be better monitored and ATMs can be more effectively solved. This development could help investigative agencies across Europe. The ink database is still in its launch phase, but with the current number of robberies in Europe, it will not take long for this database to mature as well, Zoon believes: ‘We are building something new, which takes time, but our knowledge is growing and international cooperation is improving. It is high time we all became more alert to this type of banknote. It's not normal to have notes that are stained with ink; then you can almost be sure that they were once captured in a banknote bust.’ ▶️ Additionally, read the background story on the NFI website: https://lnkd.in/e4QYFxiu
