Yesterday, the EU Commission published its two-part Omnibus Simplification Package which aims to reduce burdens by targeting the largest companies The first Omnibus package includes two proposals 📌The first proposal: -Postpones the entry into application of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and of certain provisions of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) -Aims to reduce the reporting burden and limit obligations on smaller companies 📌The second proposal: -Reduces the number of companies subject to mandatory sustainability reporting requirements by 80% -Delays the CSRD by two years -Requires that only companies with more than 1,000 employees (and either at least €50 million in turnover or a balance sheet of more than €25 million) report -Changes the reporting to include only direct suppliers 💶 InvestEU – European Union (Omnibus II) includes a new package of proposals under InvestEU to boost investments through fostering innovation and competitiveness 💭 Below is the EUROLAB President’s statement on the Omnibus Simplification Package See more on Omnibus I: https://lnkd.in/eeis8T4T See more on Omnibus II: https://lnkd.in/dNYWTvs4 #deregulation #omnibuspackage #ESGregulation #CSRD #CSDDD #sustainabilityreporting ASSOTIC CROLAB HellasLab . About us
EUROLAB – the European Federation of National Associations of Measurement, Testing and Analytical Laboratories – was set up in Brussels on 27 April 1990 and since 1998 is registered as a legal entity in the form of an international association under Belgian law (aisbl – association internationale sans but lucratif). Composed of 25 national associations from the EU and EFTA, EUROLAB groups over 3,000 conformity assessment bodies and 9,000 accredited laboratories, representing over 150,000 technical experts and laboratory practitioners. Associated membership is open world-wide and includes representatives from the Middle East, South Africa and America. EUROLAB Key Objectives: 1. Representing the European conformity assessment sector regarding political and technical issues having a direct impact on the European Quality Infrastructure, while contributing to the safety of consumers, businesses competitiveness, to the sustainability of the internal market and harmonization of accreditation. 2. Networking and knowledge sharing with key stakeholders having activities of direct impact on the Quality Infrastructure and in the conformity assessment field, thus striving to avoid duplication of efforts and activities, while enforcing the voice of the conformity assessment sector. 3. Act and contribute whenever needed on key regulatory developments by providing adequate means for sharing of information, experience and technical expertise through the publication of Position Papers, Technical Working Groups.

On Wednesday September 17 from 10:00-13:00, EUROLAB and ASSOTIC will host a seminar on Certified Reference Materials – trends, challenges & opportunities alongside the IMEKO Joint Conference TC8-TC11-TC24 in Torino, Italy. Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) play a critical role in analysing and testing by providing standardized and traceable benchmarks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of measurements and analytical results. The seminar aims to share best practices and support labs in integrating CRMs to boost credibility of their results. High-level speakers will focus on key topics including: selection and use of reference materials, challenges as well as opportunities and benefits for laboratories.
