EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries together with other industry representatives calls for a stronger focus on advanced manufacturing in the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal. We urge the European Commission to prioritise #advancedmanufacturing as a corestone of #EU competitiveness, sustainability, and economic security. Key Points in the Joint Letter: 1️⃣ Advanced manufacturing, such as biotechnologies are a driver of high value and disruptive innovation drives innovation and productivity, supportings sustainability, and contributinges to the circular economy. 2️⃣ Without strategic action, the EU’s competitive edge in this sector is at risk, especially as other global markets advance. 3️⃣ We call for a dedicated strategy for advanced manufacturing to ensure the EU remains a global leader. This is a pivotal moment to foster the growth and development of European industry. We need immediate action and recognition of advanced manufacturing in the #CleanIndustrialDeal to maintain our position as a global innovation hub. Read more below ⤵️

Following last week publication ''Boosting Attractiveness of the EU for ATMP Developers", today we are analysing how to make the #EU more attractive for ATMPs developers.📝🧬 Developers often face challenges in patient recruitment, lack of specialised facilities and complex regulations. Additionally, complex Clinical Trials Regulation (CTR) and its interplay with other regulations such as the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), and In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR) are also creating challenges for developers by further increasing their costs. 💸 So, how can we streamline sustainable EU clinical trials? 🤔 EuropaBio recommends reviewing the current regulatory framework and promoting an EU ecosystem favouring the scale-up of trials, with better harmonisation of existing regulations. 🔗 You can read more recommendations at: https://lnkd.in/eJTibe2d

Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (#ATMPs) are innovative one-time treatments that have the potential to transform patient health. The #EU was a forerunner in ATMPs development and regulation. However, it is lagging behind the United States and Asia, which are now more attractive to ATMP developers. The numbers tell the story: in 2024, the US had 974 clinical trials, Asia had 784, while the EU only had 341. This is affecting EU's competitiveness and its patients. EuropaBio published the paper "Boosting Attractiveness of the EU for ATMP Developers".
