In a rapidly growing and evolving sector, the EGBA is at the forefront of promoting a competitive and well-regulated online gambling sector in Europe. EGBA works collaboratively with national and EU authorities, along with other stakeholders, to promote an online gambling market that prioritises consumer protection and accomodates the realities of the internet and online consumer demand. The association advocates for regulations which ensure that the regulated online gambling offer is attractive to players and is effective in directing them away from unregulated offers. A key objective of EGBA is to promote a safe and sustainable online gambling sector in Europe. To support this objective, our members adhere to various EGBA industry standards and codes, in addition to the stringent licensing requirements that they already adhere to in the European countries where they operate. Our members meet the highest regulatory standards and together possess 267 online gambling licenses, each with its own compliance requirements, enabling them to serve 32.5 million customers across 22 different European countries. Collectively, they contribute to approximately one-third of Europe’s online gambling gross gaming revenue (GGR). Members of EGBA also participate in the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) which drives industry efforts in sports integrity and the prevention of match-fixing. The association has established an alert platform and information sharing agreements with leading governing bodies of sports, including FIFA and the IOC. EGBA is registered to the EU Transparency register since 2009 with the number 29508582413-52.

Safer Gambling Week: It's all about working together! Safer Gambling Week was a valuable opportunity to learn from experts, engage in insightful discussions, and reflect on the progress made in player protection. While significant progress have been taken, a key question emerged: How can we enhance safer gambling communication to be more impactful and more meaningful? It's clear that a collaborative approach is essential. By combining the expertise of operators, researchers, and individuals with lived experience, we can develop more effective strategies to prevent player risk. Honest and open dialogue between these stakeholders is crucial to fostering a safer gambling environment. To truly make a difference, we must prioritize a bottom-up approach that puts the customer at the center. By normalizing safer gambling communication from the start, rather than solely focusing on interventions, we can make a significant impact. It was encouraging to hear Taina Grech from Kindred group discuss their practical implementation of this approach, and how valuable feedback from lived experience consultants at EPIC Global Solutions has been in driving this change. Proactive education is key. A big thank you to European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) for their efforts in raising awareness and educating the public. Finally, at #GlobalSelfExclusionInitiative, we're committed to making this knowledge, help, and experience accessible to those who need it most: The Players. In my next posts, I'll delve into practical applications of safer gambling tools. This picture is from Epic global solution webinar on very interesting topic: Female gamblers. #ESGW24 #Selfexclusionassitancetool #Epicglobalsolution #Safergambling #Playersprotection #Vulnerableplayers

How can we encourage players to use safer gambling tools? Promoting them is undoubtedly a critical step. But what should we consider to make our promotions truly effective? During last week's webinar, Christofer Hagstedt introduced a practical framework featuring four key aspects for effectively communicating these tools. Some key takeaways from the session: 🔸 Establish a dedicated brand for your safer gambling tools and resources to make them easily recognisable and accessible. 🔸 Place game promotions and safer gambling tool promotions side by side to create a balanced approach, integrating safer gambling tools as a natural part of the gambling experience. 🔸 Enhance player motivation by being clear and transparent about what they can expect when clicking the CTA for a tool. 🎥 Watch the full webinar on our website for more practical tips on promoting safer gambling tools!
