Safer Gambling Week: It's all about working together! Safer Gambling Week was a valuable opportunity to learn from experts, engage in insightful discussions, and reflect on the progress made in player protection. While significant progress have been taken, a key question emerged: How can we enhance safer gambling communication to be more impactful and more meaningful? It's clear that a collaborative approach is essential. By combining the expertise of operators, researchers, and individuals with lived experience, we can develop more effective strategies to prevent player risk. Honest and open dialogue between these stakeholders is crucial to fostering a safer gambling environment. To truly make a difference, we must prioritize a bottom-up approach that puts the customer at the center. By normalizing safer gambling communication from the start, rather than solely focusing on interventions, we can make a significant impact. It was encouraging to hear Taina Grech from Kindred group discuss their practical implementation of this approach, and how valuable feedback from lived experience consultants at EPIC Global Solutions has been in driving this change. Proactive education is key. A big thank you to European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) for their efforts in raising awareness and educating the public.
