EGGA - Galvanizing Europe
Industry Associations
European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the industry organisation for Europe’s general galvanizing sector.
About us
EGGA-Galvanizing Europe (European General Galvanizers Association) is the industry organisation for Europe’s general galvanizing sector. It is a federation of the National Associations of most of the European Union Member States together with Norway and Turkey. These National Associations represent about 600 general galvanizing plants. The European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the federation of the national galvanizers associations within Europe. EGGA has a small full-time staff supported by specialist consultants and the staff resources of the national associations. EGGA monitors and responds to issues affecting the general galvanizing industry in Europe, in particular environmental, technical and regulatory matters. EGGA also provides a platform for coordination of marketing and other initiatives for the industry. Today, EGGA represents about 600 general galvanizing plants (mostly SMEs) employing an estimated 40,000 people in Europe.

📢 Call to Action for the Solar Mounting Structures Industry! 🌍🔋 The European Commission has launched a Public Consultation on the Net-Zero Industry Act, a crucial opportunity to ensure that Europe’s solar mounting structures industry receives the recognition and support it deserves. ⚠️ We welcome the EC’s inclusion of trackers – but the mounting structures for fixed systems are even more important for resilience actions and they are not yet included in the list of key components that will benefit from measures to strengthen EU’s manufacturing capacity. 📌 Why does this matter? ➡️ Excluding these components increases reliance on imports from third countries, weakening Europe’s industrial autonomy. ➡️ European-made galvanized steel meets the highest standards of quality, #durability, and #sustainability, ensuring safer and more #efficient structures for renewable energy deployment. ➡️ Without a strong EU manufacturing ecosystem, the energy transition and #industrial resilience will be at risk. EGGA - Galvanizing Europe urges all solar mounting structure manufacturers to take part in this consultation and call for these components to be included in the list. 📩 Your voice is crucial to protecting European manufacturers of these vital steel products! If you are a manufacturer in this supply chain – take action now – add your voice in the public consultations now! EGGA - Galvanizing Europe welcomes Tobias Schäfer to our staff team. As our new Director – EU Policy, Tobias will bring extensive experience of working alongside the EU Institutions and on industrial policies to ensure the voice of Europe’s batch galvanizing industry is heard even more effectively in Brussels. Galvanizing of steel products helps build circular and low carbon solutions in construction, infrastructure and other sectors and is a vital enabler in many net zero technologies…all key facts to bring into EU policy making. #GalvanizingIsCircular #circulareconomy #galvanizedsteel #galvanizing

Staff from the International Zinc Association and EGGA - Galvanizing Europe recently held a working session at IZA’s Brussels office to build on our important collaboration in EU policy for sustainability and circular economy, regulatory developments for zinc and other shared interests. The session was especially important in exchanging knowledge in the inter-connected work of the two organisations on life cycle analysis and carbon footprinting. Our staff already work closely together in a wide range of activities, but it was great to bring the team together as a group to review these actions. Various follow-up items were identified that will reinforce our shared goals regarding zinc and its vital role in corrosion protection of steel. #galvanizing #galvanizingiscircular

EGGA - Galvanizing Europe held its committee sessions and Board of Directors meeting in Copenhagen last week. Our Technical & Research Committee brings together experts from the National Associations to manage our extensive participation in CEN and ISO standards. The Marketing Committee is focused on actions to ensure the contribution of galvanizing to the durability and sustainability of steel structures are well-documented and communicated. The evolution of environmental permitting of galvanizing plants under the new BAT Conclusions and IED 2.0 are the main focus of the Environmental and Safety Committee. Along with our various working groups, these committees ensure that EGGA activities meet the ever-changing demands of Europe’s galvanizing industry. The EGGA Board of Directors recognised the outstanding contribution of Carola Hermoso (ATEG - Asociación Técnica Española de Galvanización, Spain) who will be stepping down as Chair of the Environmental and Safety Committee, as she moves to a new position at the Spanish steel producers association, Unión de Empresas Siderúrgicas (UNESID), at the end of this year. Carola was awarded the prestigious ‘EGGA Pin’ by EGGA President, Norbert Beljaars during the Board meeting. Pictured Below: 1. Norbert Beljaars awarding the EGGA Pin to Carola Hermoso 2.
