💶 Unlocking geothermal: The case for a European financial risk guarantee scheme 🌍 Geothermal, like all other renewable energies, requires large, upfront capital costs with very low operational costs. The fossil energy world is the inverse of this. Geothermal is blessed with very long lifetimes. This is why a few additional hurdles have to be overcome. Sometimes, there is a resource risk – hot waters may be a little further away than originally foreseen. This risk, in a mature market, would be covered by private insurance companies.
