Two months in #EMPAsafe data reveals We launched #EMPAsafe late last year, and so far, we have created more than 1000 user accounts. We want to provide a brief summary of the data collected to date. We have received 150 reports. Unsurprisingly, the majority of defect reports focus on deficiencies directly related to pilot transfers. This confirms the urgent need to prioritise improvements in this area. Among all the reported defects, a poorly rigged retrieval line was the most common issue. Other significant defects in the top ten include slippery or unstable steps and incorrect stanchions. Even a slight misstep/slip on a ladder can lead to serious accidents. It's important to note that #EMPAsafe is not solely focused on pilot transfer arrangements. Our members can also inform pilots in other ports about vessel operational issues. The most frequently identified operational defects were restricted or non-functioning main engines and bow thrusters. Be part of the change. Download the app and report any safety issues. Together, we can save lives and make the maritime industry safer. #maritimepilot #pilot #pilotsafety #EMPAsafe #safety Arie Palmers CHIRP Adam Parnell Lena Göthberg Kevin Vallance European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) United Kingdom Maritime Pilots Association (UKMPA) Fédération Française des Pilotes Maritimes ( FFPM ) Bundeslotsenkammer Miguel Vieira de Castro Henry CAUBRIERE Erik Dalege Jose A. Today, the European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) Technical & Training Committee held a workshop on #EMPAsafe, which T&T Committee Chairman Miguel Vieira de Castro organised. The constructive feedback from our members helps us, and we cherish every opportunity to engage, answer questions, and dream up new ideas for future updates. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who carved out time from their busy lives to attend today's meeting. We also owe a deep gratitude to AMURA for bringing #EMPAsafe to life and to Agata Polcwiartek, the project manager for #EMPAsafe, who delivered yet another exceptional presentation demonstrating the revolutionary impact of #EMPAsafe. Throwback to last Friday when European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) attended the 1st European Maritime Space (EMS) Forum. The EMS is a key component of the trans-European transport network, connecting and integrating maritime transport infrastructure in port areas with the landside network. The EMS aims to support the development of a seamless, sustainable, efficient, and resilient multimodal transport system across Europe. Topics of discussion included an overview of the new Commissioner’s mission letter, updates on port policies, presentation of the EMS study, enhancing safe winter navigation in Nordic countries, and short sea shipping.

European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) reposted this
Yesterday, European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) participated in the Global Gateway Green Shipping Corridors (GGGSC) workshop, organised by DG INTPA. The main message was that the Commission, Member States, partners and private sector should unite as Team Europe to foster efficient, resilient, and sustainable transport with a strong focus on security of supply and competitiveness of ports. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) presented the first phase of the GGGSC study findings and representatives of the Member States and of the EU private sector briefly provided some of their insights.
