Innovation is central to our mission of achieving a climate-neutral and circular economy. In recent reports, as well as in the incoming Political Guidelines of the European Commission, innovation is rightly earmarked as central to driving competitiveness and boosting the EU's economy. But innovation is also key drive to meeting the objectives of the #EUGreenDeal and ensuring we build a clean future. Innovation will also help fuel the Digital Transition. In this context, measuring the EU's "eco-innovation" is essential to take stock of and to identify where we need to improve. This is exactly what the EU Eco-Innovation Index 2024 does. In the Report, eco-innovation is defined as "any innovation that reduces impacts on the environment, increases resilience to environmental pressures or uses natural resources more efficiently". The 2024 Index tracks eco-innovation over the past decade across five thematic areas: input, activities, outputs, resource efficiency outcomes, and socio-economic outcomes. A steady and continuous increase is in eco-innovation is observed between 2014 and 2024 in the EU. And strong correlations between Member States' position on the European Innovation Scoreboard and their eco-innovation score is also identified. Did you know that: 🟣 1 in 3 women (736 million) globally experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime? 🟣 Less than 40% of women who experience violence seek help? 🟣 Fewer than 10% report it to the police? 🟣 Domestic violence is still surrounded by stigma, and cultural context plays a significant role in determining how victims report their experiences? Strong interest in the 2024 #HorizonEU security research call for proposals, with 433 of proposals submitted, exceeding the 247 of proposals from the previous year. The calls for proposals under Horizon Europe - Cluster 3, Civil Security for Society fund research and innovation projects on crisis management, fight against crime and terrorism, external and border security, privacy, and trust. We have received 433 proposals competing for a total of € 130 million in EU funding.
