  • Gender-based violence (GBV) and the lack of comprehensive national policies perpetuate the gender gap in higher education 🎓, which is showcased in various academic practices, such as underrepresentation of women in executive positions at universities and recruitment processes 🤝. Additionally, GBV in higher education hinders efforts to close the gender gap and foster an inclusive workforce 🌍. The presence of diverse and inconsistent GBV policies, along with ineffective or insufficient measures, contributes to a significant gap in knowledge about best practices and effective policy implementation at both universities and the national level 📉. To decrease this gap, our member unions have developed initiatives across Europe, taking proactive steps to address gender-based violence (GBV) in higher education through innovative reporting tools, advocacy efforts, and the creation of safer spaces. 📄 Read the full statement here: https://bit.ly/3Oyb4D2 🎙️ Listen to the podcast here: https://bit.ly/4gaEtPN

  • At the begining of BM88 in Oslo ESU's president Iris Kimizoglu used the opportunity to remind us of Bergen Declaration. What’s this Bergen Declaration that ESU’s President mentioned, and why is it still relevant at this BM in Oslo? 🤔✨ 🌍Drafted in May 2016, the Bergen Declaration brought together student representatives from across the globe to fight for the idea that education is a human right, not a privilege. It addressed critical issues like accessibility, the commodification of education, academic freedom, sustainability, and students' rights to organize and be represented. Fast forward to today’s BM in Oslo, we’re reiterating its core message: uniting for a global student voice and working towards free, inclusive, and high-quality education for all. 📚💡 Fore more info, check our website!
