🔋 #EnergyModelling is key to creating sustainable #EnergySystems, especially those that focus on #RenewableSources. ☀ 🌐 This methodology is an integral part of the REFORMERS Energy Valleys - Horizon Europe initiative, which aims to transform local energy infrastructures into #RenewableEnergyValleys. In these valleys, renewable resources such as wind, solar, biomass and waste heat meet the comprehensive thermal and electrical needs of communities. 🏠 💡 Within the REFORMERS #framework, energy system modelling is used to investigate the performance of different technologies and strategies. Preliminary results from the Alkmaar #FlagshipValley indicate a potential reduction in #CO₂emissions through the production of biomethane from biomass waste, the expansion of district heating networks and an increase in solar PV capacity. In addition, these models predict an increase in local renewable energy self-sufficiency, aligning production with consumption and reducing dependence on external grids. 📊 By evaluating different configurations of energy generation, storage and use, these models provide critical insights that guide investment decisions and improve efficiency.
