Last summer on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, Matt Pitman, founder of Pixelmappers and longtime lighting designer for Dua Lipa, delivered a stunning, flawless lighting experience that elevated Dua’s headline performance. The secret? A powerful rig filled with AYRTON fixtures.
Matt selected an array of Ayrton’s latest innovations, including the newly released Rivale Profile and the laser-powered Kyalami, alongside industry favorites like Cobra, Bora, Perseo Profile, and Domino LT. These fixtures, expertly supplied by Lights Control Rigging - LCR and Neg Earth Lights, brought an intense, immersive experience to the audience and a stunning visual impact that looked incredible both live and on camera.
For one of the first major productions to incorporate Kyalami since its launch, Pitman deployed 64 of these compact, high-output fixtures in vertical arrays on 9.5m tall ladders. With lenses positioned just 1cm apart, the effect was striking, creating curtain-like beams of light that framed the Pyramid Stage with unmatched precision and brightness.
To enhance the floor package, Pitman added 68 Rivale Profiles along the downstage edge and within the stage set, creating an intense, wide coverage. “Rivale is my new love,” he shared. “It’s everything I’ve been looking for in a spot, with rich color mixing and the versatility to create both beam and spot looks.”
Pitman and his team took time to meticulously white-balance each fixture during rehearsals, ensuring consistent color across multiple locations. "It was incredible to see how the Kyalami, Cobra, and Perseo fixtures from different systems matched so perfectly" Pitman noted.
