Every person who works should get paid. But today's proposal from the European Commission not only doesn't ban unpaid internships, it incentivises companies to stop paying some interns. The Commission is completely ignoring all students and those getting nothing for their labour. Their proposal is a betrayal to the youth. It may improve conditions for some, but let’s be honest here, this will push those employers who are paying their interns a small amount of money to stop paying them. This proposal shamelessly rewards exploiters, encouraging employers to cut intern pay without consequences. It takes one minute to email Commissioner Nicolas Schmit using our tool.
