  • ‼️Fake sporting goods can also damage consumers' health & safety👇 👕 Counterfeit apparel can countain unregulated materials or toxic substances which can lead to skin irritation, respiratory problems, or long-term health risks. 🪖Counterfeit sporting goods, such as helmets, knee pads, or other protective gear, may not meet EU safety standards and might fail during use, leading to injuries. In addition, fake products typically lack proper certifications and oversight. Without a warranty or accountability from legitimate manufacturers, users are left vulnerable if the product malfunctions or causes harm. ℹ️ On this black Friday, we recommend consumers to be more careful than ever and buy sporting goods from authorised retailers or directly from trusted brands like FESI members 👉https://lnkd.in/e3r9VHcb

  • 🇪🇺The new European Commission 2024-2029 is officially approved🇪🇺 Today, the European Parliament officially approved all Commissioner-designates with 370 votes in favor, 282 against, and 36 abstentions. At FESI, we extend our best wishes to the new Commission as it embarks on this journey and we look forward to fruitful collaboration with the new Commissioners' cabinets on our Manifesto's priorities, including: ✅ Ensure policy coherence and harmonisation across sustainability policies ✅ Tackle challenges with e-commerce platforms & ensuring better IP protection online ✅Conclude ongoing trade negotiations and open discussions with new trade partners ✅ Explore the merits of digital labelling as an alternative to traditional physical labels ✅Ensure sport becomes accessible and welcoming to all individuals 👉Read more: https://lnkd.in/dNdS8kVv These priorities, outlined in our Manifesto are essential to building a resilient, sustainable, and vibrant Europe, echoing Ursula von der Leyen's own political guidelines "to prepare a stronger Union for the future" 💪🇪🇺

  • 📢 Driving #Sustainability in the Sporting Goods Industry: FESI priorities on Waste Framework Directive (#WFD)👇👇 As the Waste Framework Directive trilogues are ongoing, FESI remains committed to ensuring a harmonised, efficient, and sustainable regulatory framework for the sporting goods industry. Our key priorities reflect the need to balance environmental goals with practical, industry-specific considerations: 1️⃣ Harmonisation of Reporting: Streamlined reporting processes across Member States to reduce compliance costs and enhance cross-border collaboration. 2️⃣ Simplification for Consumers: Ensuring transparency on waste treatment while avoiding redundant or conflicting product information at the point of sale. 3️⃣ Clarity for Producers: Clear definitions for "making available" and a mechanism to prevent duplication of Extended Producer Responsibility (#EPR) fees. 4️⃣ Fair Representation Requirements: Advocating against the need for multiple national representatives, which could create administrative burdens and market barriers. 5️⃣ Infrastructure for Recycling: Support for investments in textile-to-textile recycling and defining pre-treatment stages under EPR obligations to ensure effective use of recycled materials. 6️⃣ Ecomodulation Alignment: Linking fees to ecodesign criteria under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR) for a cohesive approach to sustainability. 7️⃣ Exclusion of Specific Products: Calling for the separation of ski boots and PPE from the directive’s scope due to their unique material compositions and recycling challenges. By addressing these priorities, we aim to support the EU Green Deal and foster sustainable growth across the sector🌿 💡 Learn more about our proposals and join the discussion to shape a prosperous and green sports industry #WFD #EPR #PRO #Sustainability #WasteFrameworkDirective #SportingGoodsIndustry #CircularEconomy #GreenDeal

🚀 Advancing Sustainable Design: Key Insights from the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (#ESPR) Study 🌱 Today's study from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre outlines top priorities for sustainable product design under the ESPR. With 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿, Furniture, and Tyres leading the list, this report identifies products with significant environmental impact and untapped potential for improvement. 🔑 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: - 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 were ranked highest, emphasizing the need for durability, recyclability, and reduced carbon footprint. - Horizontal Requirements like Durability and Recycled Content are recommended to apply across multiple sectors to drive lasting sustainability improvements. - Products targeted could see impactful benefits, contributing up to 28% reduction in environmental impact. 📅 Next Steps: Within the next 9 months, the first ESPR Working Plan will be finalized, with future delegated acts aimed at setting essential ecodesign standards for prioritized products. This report represents the JRC’s final analysis of new product priorities for the ESPR. The results illustrated are not final decisions: they do not bind the Commission, and are without prejudice to what may ultimately be prioritised for first action under ESPR, included in the first ESPR Working Plan, or undertaken under other EU policy frameworks. #Sustainability #textiles #footwear #Ecodesign #CircularEconomy #GreenInnovation #EuropeanCommission #ESPR Full report can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/ekZcjJuS

  • 🇪🇺 #HL4EU Community Building Conference Recap 🤸 Yesterday, we were thrilled to gather with our partners in #Brussels🇧🇪 for our Healthy Lifestyles for Europe project (HL4EU) Community Building Conference, bringing together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance cross-sectoral collaborations for healthier lifestyles across Europe. 💬The event was marked by an insightful panel moderated by our Secretary General Jerome Pero, featuring Juana Willumsen (WHO), Kitti Almer (Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU), Stefano Pintus (DG EAC, European Commission), and Dr. Ashley Ridout (Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine, UK). Each speaker shared their organisation's approach to promoting health through partnerships, such as the European Commission's #HealthyLifestyle4All initiative and WHO's work with sectors like education, urban development, and transportation to promote healthier communities. The Hungarian Presidency also shared insights about the future conclusions on action against cardiovascular disease.
